Do you think that animals have souls? I do. What really
consists of a soul? Well I think that at least part of
a soul consists of the individual's personality. I also
think a soul consists of perception and emotions. I firmly
believe that animals have personalities, they percieve things,
and they feel. That leads me to the conclusion that animals
have souls. I think that we humans are pretty arrogant
alot of times and think that we, and only we have a soul.
What is your opinion on this?

I totally agree with you jimi--you are a very deep profound thinker. We
need more people like that around.

I'm with you on this one too Jimi. I'm forty now, and every since I was
a kid I would bring home animals I found in the road, or in the grass to
give them a "proper burial". I still do this, I guess mainly out of
respect for their life and their passing. I even stop and pick dead
squirrels up out of the road. My friends think I'm crazy...but I hate
to see any living creature mamed or destroyed, unless by the total laws
of nature. I feel that each time one is, it is a great loss to myself
and to the world.

Funny, when my daughter was in grade school, I got a call from the
principle. He was very upset that my daughter had taken a dead mouse to
school in her bookbag and took it out to show the kids. When she got
home later that night I asked her why she said she found it at the bus
stop and that "it needed a proper burial Mom E." I had to fight to keep
from laughing of course because what she had done was inappropriate.
Needless to say, our backyard between her and I was like a scene from
Pet Semetary. My family pets are now cremated and kept in urns. So far,
two dogs, and one cat.

Noone needs to tell me I'm odd, I already know...

I don't know about souls ( I am still out about whether we do to) but I
do believe they have the ability to feel things like pain and axiety.

Maybe even they can have ADD. So lets just prescribe riddlen for

How can you look into the eyes of an animal that loves you, is curious
about and sensitive to YOUR moods and feelings, and not believe that it
doesn't have a soul?

Most people can't communicate with the souls of other species, but some
of us can. I've been blessed with an inate ability to understand
animals...some pets, some "trophies" (such as zoo or sanctuary animals),
some wild. Perhaps that is why I am so involved in animal rescue.
Sometimes people choose pets that are not the correct pet for them...and
they are later discarded or ignored/neglected. People like myself are
pained to see these animals ~ hostages/victims of the poor choices of
misinformed people ~ and we try to rehabilitate and later play
"matchmaker" in finding the proper home or sanctuary for each animal
needing one. Locating adoptable animals and finding "forever homes" for
them is not "what I do, it's WHO I AM". It's no different that matching
adoptees to adoptive homes. I can't NOT help!

one, and as the "higher, more evolved species", it's my duty to help the
lessers that can't help themselves.

i do think that animals have souls. they do have personalities and
emotions and i think that all gets lost because they can't speak. i
don't think animals would be considered a lesser life form if they could
talk.

KB, 'mankind' labeled the Animal Kingdom 'lesser', not I. I believe
that we are only 'different', yet the same...

I don't know if any of us have "souls" but I do know that we all deserve
our life to be respected. I too will bring home a dead animal to give
it a proper burial...because what if I'm just lying on the side of the
road dead? I sure don't want someone to just pass me by...

I believe that they do, and plus i believe alot of the Native religon in
where everything belongs in the hierchy together, so to me animals
should be equals but ha like thats ever going to happen

yes jimmy animals have souls, and believe or not they feel sorrow, and
they cry too, some animals are so conected to their owners that they
feel their feelings, at least my dog used to when he was alive......was
so funny is that he was the only male that Loves me for me,,,,,,,still
miss him, but while we are in the subject you think animals go to heaven
or a special place? I hoping they do , it so then my dog is finally free
and happy runing around forever.....
