Hey, I'm going to Japan in a year and was wondering if anyone has any tips for me? I'm relatively well informed as to most things but if you can think of anything really unusual help me out! I'll be living in Tokyo. Thanks!

Yeah, I know about those, you can get practically anything in a vending machine in Japan.
Hear that their rethinking this though since crime is beginning to rise a bit. |

Ive heard that as well. I would love to go to Japan. I would have to get used to their food though because I eat like an Amercina 5 year old...lol.

I went to a NFL game in Tokyo
KC Chiefs (with Joe Montana) and Minnasota Vikings (with Warren Moon) the stadium is called "The Big Egg" and they dont sell hot dogs and peanuts. the vendors work the crowd yelling "Sushi" the mass transit is a nightmare. they have porters whose job it is to push people onto the trains so they can close the doors in the city its no different from NYC or Chicago except that you cant read the billboards in the country its reall pretty |

I went to a vending machine there and got coffee. Out pops this can of hot coffee that burned the crap out of me while I am juggling it. It finally got cool enough to handle so I could pop the top and drink it but seemed odd nonetheless.
They smoke a lot. |

You can get just about any kind of food in Japan though, just have to look. Mexican is a bit hard to find though, but American foods are very popular so you probably wouldn't have anything to worry about.

just a counter to stand at when you eat. Everyone is in much too much of a hurry to sit down and McDonalds sells beer in Tokyo |

I know people get shoved into trains, but I just talked to someone who got back from Japan, said this practice wasn't used as much as people made it out to be.
Said it was more of a run and jump into the train, like body surfing, sounds like fun. |

Really? No tables? That's kind of hard to believe since its considered rude to eat while your walking around.
Maybe its more of a real estate issue in Japan since land costs so much. Weird. |

I learned if you try to be polite and let the ladies go first
you'll never get anywhere there |

and if you get seperated from your (American) friends they are easy to find
their heads just seem to float a foot or two over the crowds |

and if you try to go into a eating/drinking establishment and the doorman geets you with crossed arms over his chest it means "Americans not allowed"

Supposably, when foreigners first go to Japan they think that their all treated equally and that the society is extremely democratic, but really thats just a surface belief.
There's actually alot of segregation in Japan, though its not really talked about since the U.S sees Japan as its ally in Asia. Dumb people. |

I dig Japan these are just stuff that I remember my fav though is Hong Kong. I always loved Hong Kong |

Dumb people. yeah the thing about not allowing American is they charge for each napkin, they charge for the peanuts on the bar, they charge for every little convenience. The Japanese know this and allow for it but when American get the bill they freak out and start a ruckus. so, they just dont let em in |
