Topic: Finally! Three Republicans defy the herd! | |

"Thursday's vote followed the heated controversy over a government advisory panel's recent recommendation that routine mammograms aren't needed for women in their 40s." Did you read the article before you posted it? Of course not...he's a democrat they don't read articles....they just sign off on them ![]() Wrong! I'm unaffiliated! Sooner or later the Repubs will run out of excuses for not supporting the people's health care in favor of the insurance lobbying money. When they do maybe, but I doubt it, they'll admit their real motivations. I applaud the ammendment... Perhaps if we can't derail this massive overkill of a bill we can at least change it so it does the least amout of damage... So those three you mentioned did not break away from the party... They followed their stated morals and values it would appear. As far as what McCain is doing... Good for him... I know lots of people that would be adversly impacted if cuts were allowed in Medicaid or Medicare... What is that darn outh again. FIRST DO NO HARM. Jeez doctors out there... What kinda docs are you? Perhaps some of you class with a few climate scientists I been reading about? They weren't going to cut traditional Medicare. It's been all about Medicare Advantage. That's the Medicare HMO plan. I would have had no problem with them making cuts with Medicare Advantage. Since the program started, it cost around $33 billion extra dollars. That money is going to insurance companies. One of those insurance companies is Aetna. Older people have been complaining to me about that program. They said that you have to be bleeding profusely to get permission to see a specialist. They don't have to pay for Medicare Advantage. They do pay monthly for traditional Medicare. It's around $90.00/mth. Thanks. Nice bit of info. Aetna kicks back to AARP I understand... However... There was more to it than that I am sure... Cause McCain opposess both the cuts AND AARP... There is allways more to be learned. |

Our country is divided "A house divided against itself cannot stand" Our country is on a road to self destruction Right and wrong, mon ami. We the people are devided. DC isn't. They're playing chess against us and they have the power to change the rules at a whim. Dems/Repubs. They're in it together. Ron Paul is the only one to prove he can't be bought. If we can't have him for pres., let's look outside the dem/repub orgy. |

It is sad to see the number of people willing to become slaves in exchange for the promise of a couple of "freebies."

Do you have any information on who comprised the panel that recommended mammograms be left out? I think that is the real story here. That's easy. No one recommended they be left out. "Thursday's vote followed the heated controversy over a government advisory panel's recent recommendation that routine mammograms aren't needed for women in their 40s." Did you read the article before you posted it? Of course not...he's a democrat they don't read articles....they just sign off on them ![]() Fanta is not a democrat nor a liberal (by the definition of liberals from the rightwingers that is) ![]() |

It is sad to see the number of people willing to become slaves in exchange for the promise of a couple of "freebies." It is not freebies, it is caring for the people who live in this country. It should have been happening all along. No slavery involved in taking care of each other. |

If people are truly American and patriotic, they should be proud to pay taxes because that is our way of paying into our country every day. |

Paying more than 20% of your income to bolster an ever growing non productive entity is tantamount to being a servant... When the government is so large that you must sacrafice your personal pursuit of happiness to allow its existance there is something drastically wrong... Perhaps you would like to wait to do something untill taxes reach the point where the food you put on the table is only what the government allows? |

Aetna is currently laying off employees to increase profit...my ex worked for a division of Aetna her division mad 1.9Billion in profit last year...and profits were projected to keep growing...but they just laid off 625 people in the San Diego region alone with more cuts to follow...for what? is 1.9billion in PROFIT not enough to keep peoples jobs? |

"The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money." ~~Margaret Thatcher Considering we will never see socialism here that statement is irrelavant to us. Norman Mattoon Thomas (November 20, 1884 – December 19, 1968) was a leading American socialist, pacifist, and six-time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America. The Socialist Party candidate for President of the US , Norman Thomas, said this in a 1944 speech: "The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But under the name of liberalism, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." He went on to say: "I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democratic Party has adopted our platform." |

It's shameful not to voluntarily show humanity and compassion. |

"The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money." ~~Margaret Thatcher Considering we will never see socialism here that statement is irrelavant to us. You are right... Socialism would eventually run afoul of the constitution.? Might even be happening now? We are supposed to be a government for the people and by the people... We are acting like government of the people by the government... Not a good road to be on. |

It is optional. You can stop paying taxes and live with the consequences. If people are truly American and patriotic, they should be proud to pay taxes because that is our way of paying into our country every day. So, you believe that people should suffer the consequences of their actions. Suppose someone goes out and has unprotected sex and an unwanted pregnancy or an STD such as AIDS is the result. Because of nationalized health care, I will be forced to help pay for an abortion or for the care of someone with an STD. Why am I now suffering the consequences of someone else's irresponsible choices? |

Even more pathetic are the people that believe the government CAN fix the problems in their lives. |
