What a dreary day it is today...

Normally around here there is a lot of movement, the dogs would be barking, my cat would be wanting to play with everything that moves, there would be people out and about, and something would be happening on the grounds, but today that just isn't how things are. It is quiet and that is a bit unsettling.

Since I'm sitting here noticing how different things are today it is a good time to notice just how different things are in my life. This is the first time in 15 years that I haven't lived close enough to my family to be with them for the holidays and it is really bothering me. We aren't exactly the closest family in the world and we do have our fair share of problems but I still love them very much and miss being near them.

My life has changed for the better since I have moved and that is something to be thankful for but I wonder how much better it would be if they could all be here for this season when we put our differences aside and all came together to celebrate. Would it be the same old occasion or would it somehow be better since everything in my life is better? I'm honestly not sure...

Since my family isn't and can't be here I truly feel blessed to have a wonderful network of friends and people around that care about me and are willing to be there for me when I need them. This time of year is a wonderful time when you have people around that care about you and I can truly appreciate that having lived the life I have.

This also makes me appreciate all that our troops and thier families are giving so the rest of us can be safe here at home during this holiday season. As much as I miss my family I can't fathom the idea of being overseas or having someone I love overseas during this time of year. My thanks goes out to all of you that are there and the families that are still here. I know these words are just that but please know that they are from my heart and they are filled with love, admiration and gratitude for all you do.

It is tough not being around those that we love. My heart goes out to all of those that have family & friends that will not be home for Christmas this year.

It is tough when distance comes between us and loved ones it is heartbreaking when war creates that distance.

May we all take time to send our prayers, well wishes or good thoughts to those Military men/women/mothers/fathers/sons/daughters ect. That are holding a gun in their hands during this time instead of the loved ones they long for.flowerforyou

AWWW sending big hugs your way.
I do have to agree, while this is my sixth of not living close to family, I am not going home for Christmas. I am the one staying close to be on call.

I didn't think it would bother me since my family and I webcam so much. It is...

This site does help though..

Happy Holidays to everyone
