I've been doing this online dating thing for a long time. I've noticed every time I start seeing someone new, I start getting messages from lots of women online I've never spoken to before. In real life I could understand. Maybe I give off a different vibe or something that women cue into. But online, my profile is the same and so are my pics. What the heck is going on?  (Or maybe they are just playing games )

I would bet that the same reason you find someone to hook up with, is the reason that the others chime in. There are seasons to desire to be together, surges in attempts at contact during holiday's, the approach of winter. You start dating someone early in the "togetherness" season, and it seems that the DATING caused the surge. This is an answer that makes sense. I don't know why I didn't think of it myself.
