We met when I was 9, started "dating" when I was 11. Through the years we have shown up in one anothers lives at various times. The timing for us has never really been a good thing and I'm still not sure the time is right now. I care about someone else, but that's not going in the right direction and I keep telling myself to go forward with my life because this isn't going to happen, but it's very tough. I do have a special place in my heart for him and I always will have because he was my childhood sweetheart, but right now my heart belongs to another (who doesn't want it). |

I think you have to remember as women we hold that first love in our hearts forever. I think most women agree that its hard to forget their first love and when they stop and think about them, they will always be special to them. BUT that is the past and people do change over the years. IF we did go back to that person, it would never be what we pictured it would be. It is a special memory..don't ruin it!!

Hi Just my opinion. If he does not want your heart you can not change that and don't try. I am having a hard time explaining that to someone I dated recently. Like for 3 years, but it just is not there and never will be again.
Maybe you should take a break for awhile. I would stay in touch with your sweetheart. Start as friends again. You may quickly find out way it did not work before. If you don't try you will never know. |

I am trying to figure out how to walk away from the one that has my heart and doesn't want it, but I am finding it to be very difficult. I am going to take time for myself and figure out where I go from here. Thanks for all the advice...it is greatly appreciated!
