There is the PGA. The LPGA. The NBA and the WNBA. But why don't men and women play sports together on the same teams? All I see are guys on the NFL and the MLB teams. I ask everyone I know about this to see what they say about it. I don't think it is a strength issue because if you train hard enough you can be strongest of all. It isn't about speed and it isn't about size either. No matter what stereotype they have about women playing sports there will always be an exception and a very capable female athlete. Anyone can be just as capable as the next person no matter your gender or ethnicity. So I ask of you, why are there no women playing sports in the major leagues ON THE SAME TEAMS AS THE GUYS? Are they trying to but getting denied and we just don't hear about it? Or have no women tried to play major league sports yet WITH THE GUYS? I see seperate mens and womens teams but men and women are not on the same teams together in the major leagues. Why? They could just make seperate locker rooms for men and women and let them play together on the same teams.

I wanted to play football in Junior High. I was really good. I grew up in a neighborhood with all boys, so I had to learn if I wanted friends.
Anyway, the school wouldn't allow me to play. I went to the school board and everything. They all told me no. The following year when I went to High School they let girls play in Junior High. I was pizzed!!!!!

All the town football teams around here allow girls to play. Last year there was a couple girls that played in other towns, but I didn't see a single girl this year.

I have been told that the minor leagues and some college teams have female football players. I believe that soccer has male and female players on the same team but I do not know for sure. Fill me in on that one if you could.

lol really?
this sounds alot like an equal rights thing.

And sorry but there is no such thing as equal rights, only unequal advantages for certain people.

Be serious, it's not discrimination, it's actually good for the perspective leagues and games.....There isn't a woman alive that can outdrive even the top 50 men on the PGA tour, so therefore that puts them at a disadvantage from the start....football, I'm not even gonna go there, other than a kicker, where could they play competitively?...baseball, women can barely hit a 70 mile an hour softball let alone a 95+ mile an hour baseball, although I'd take a girl in pee wee league anyday, but after they get older, it's a wrap, men are just physically faster and stronger....Could you imagine Laila Ali fighting any one in the top 60 in boxing, she'd be hospitalized....some things in life women are better than men, not the physical grueling sports, it just isn't a reality. They've tried competing against the men and none have succeeded yet....

Back in 1992 & 1993 Manon Rhéaume was a goalie and played in 2 games during the NHL preseason for the Tampa Bay Lighting. So I guess that means that a woman did play with the men in a professional sport.

its not discrimination its called women using common sense, there are very few women who are 6'9" 360 pounds and run a 4.4 40...football.. as 4 golf i can see your point and tennis, even soccer...baseball i don't think there are many women who can hit a baseball 400+ feet. softball fields are only 300 feet. as for basketball thats a possibility and hockey they could only play goalie...men are physically stronger than women, genes don't lie.

yes we all know that, two games you say, how many games in a season...I coached a 8th grade basketball team, and I always had young lady on my boys team, two years straight the young lady was one of the best players, but she couldn't compete with the varsity boys....As I stated earlier, they've tried and failed miserably. Seriously, could you imagine if Tiger and Phil competed in the Lpga, a woman would never cash a first place check again, if the worst team in the NBA, played the best team in the WNBA they'd beat them by 75 or more....the strongest woman in the world can't lift half the weight the strongest man in the world can lift......What's the closest any woman has ever come to winning a marathon with men in it 18th....Oops I forgot, "Undefeated Zenyatta becomes the first female to win the Breeders' Cup Classic"...she beat the best boys in the world......and deserves the recognition....but sorry, that's as close as you'll get....it's not demeaning, just fact.

Manon Rhéaume

^Btw I have her rookie card...lol and it should be noted they were exhibition games that she played in.

The best example of why women aren't in Major League Baseball would be The Colorado Silver Bullets.

They played from 1994 to 1997 and wound up with a record of 58 wins and 127 losses.

They were an all female professional baseball team. They competed against various Minor League teams or teams thrown together as " All Star teams.

Of course, a record like that would put them right in line with the Pittsburgh Pirates....lmao

I have not heard of her before. I will look her up on wikipedia.

oh yeah I almost forgot about them, and they were coinsidered the best female baseball players in the country and couldn't beat minor minor league players, although the effort was heroic...I still love that movie "a league of their own"...and that's exactly what they need, a league of their own, but then again I guess anything is possible with steroids, look at what bonds was able to accomplish....never hit more than 38 homers, then he turns 40 and hits 70+, wow....

still all in all my money is on the woman raising a child, grocery shopping, and domestic murder....

Excellent topic Blizzard of Dre

I think women should be allowed to compete at the highest level in certain sports, golf, tennis, swimming, etc. Its just in contact sports it would seemed to be more than a challenge. Football allows this in High School, I'm not certain about if in College. Dirk Nowitzki plowed down the the lane the other day in the NBA and knocked out 4 of Carl Landry's teeth. Boxing is possible at certain weight classes it could be considered less of a risk. MMA I feel would and could be just the same. As equality increases, females prove to the naysayers gender is nothing more than just that. Things will change, hopefully sooner than later.

I feel the same way. I wish Nascar had more female drivers. Autoracing in general too. I read a book in eighth grade about a woman who was an indy car driver. It was awesome to say the least.
