*I wrote this before I started seeing the girl I'm now seeing but figured I'd share it*

He looks to her for strength.
When he’s at his lowest he finds happiness.
In someone who is under a year old.
She’s not even his.
He’s never even officially met her.
But, somehow she’s the light at the end of a very dark tunnel.
Noises and smiles are enough to make everything in his life ok.
It seems no matter what’s going on.
That little one makes it all better.
And, he sits back and wonders to himself
Just how anyone could walk away from that pudgy little face.
Those adorable little noises.
Guys who call themselves men.
Walk out and are pathetic little boys.
He falls deeper in thought.
Thinking, it’s ok little one.
You don’t need someone like that to look up to anyways.
Your mom doesn’t need someone like him around.
She’s a hell of a mommy.
And, doesn’t need his help.
Sooner or later,
You’ll both have a MAN in your lives.
A man who would be proud to have you call him daddy.
One who would treat you and your mommy right.
And, love you both unconditionally.
Shaking his head out of thought.
He realizes he loves a little girl.
Whom he’s never met.
Who’s mom he’s never been with.
And, yet makes him feel better than drinking ever did.
He sits in his room wondering how?
Only to fall asleep thinking about the little one and her mommy.
And, on that night.
Not one nightmare will stir him.
From his happy dreams.
