Please bare with me as I try to explain. I had a visus on my computer and my friend's son took it off.But he put his own program in my computer and I hated it, Things that I knew how and could do before is gone. I can load my cd's but can't put them over to other cd's now. Alot of my e-mail doesn't come through plus other things. I'm a simple person, What I want to know is,Can I take everything off my computer and start over again?? Is this something that I could do or should I take it to a computer shop???

If you have the original cd that came with your computuer all you have to do is re-stage using the cd. Just put the cd in to the cd holder and run it. It will give you back everything that you had when you bought the computer, but you will have to get all the things that you had and re-install them.

I would try to get off any information that you want to keep and like the other user said use the origiinal cd and restore the Operating system. If you take it to a shop it will be probably about 70 to 80 bucks to get them to fix what the kid did.

Some Computers such as HP Pavilion and others do not require a CD...

The "Restore" function is programmed onto the Hard-Drive.... Prolly best take it to a shop... flowerforyou

what old virus protection did u have? all u need to to is reload that.. if u have a disc.. if not u can usually download it from online.. however u need to find the site address of where it was made.. is your safest bet.. write down the address to the site.. sign off, go to your control panel, prgrams add or remove, select the one u dont like he put in, take it off.. sometimes it will sign off your computer... if so sign back on go to the internet and to the address u wrote down only!!!!!!!!! or put your disc in and reload the one u had back in.

if it came in your computer disc with everything else insert your disc after taking out the old one.. and there is an area that u can select the part u want to put back in. there will be a list in alphabetical order normally on the disc click on the antivirus u want and restore or put it back in... the disc gives u directions but the options are there to only do one of them

also there are a few<and i mean a few> virus protections that do work together.. so when you go to add and delete programs check if your old one is in there first if it is all u need to do is delete the one you dont like..

you might could try to go to the microsoft site and do a scan for upgrades
these are free and might re-configure your former settings too.
and then restart the pc.

if that doesnt work, system restore is prolly best.
the problem there is if you dont have the cd/disc with the OS.
if you do,and they ask for a code, its usually on a label on the side of the pc itself

also, for spyware protection i use superspywareremover and malwarebytes..those two work pretty decent.

hope any of this helps.
