remind you of certain people you have been with??? Good or bad???
Songs remind me of who ever I had been going out with at the time , friends I miss, things Ive done.... Right now, Im listening to Tesla....Love song.......reminds me of sooooooooo much right now, the good the bad.... |

Oh yes... songs can either make me happy or very sad depending on what
was happening in my life at the time that song was popular. |

Gypsy...songs take me back into the past immediately when I hear certain
ones. Memories that would never be thought of again are re-lived and I think that it keeps those memories fresh in our minds by occasionally re-visiting them. |

Yes unfortunatly certain songs do. My last relationship we had a song
and I can't even listen to it because it brings back memories |

Its funny, I work with alzheimers and dementia patients and they dont
remember their own names but can remember the words to songs they sang in church as a child.... |

Gypsy that is because there is long term memory and short term memory.
The long term memory that makes it to the BIG file cabinet is there pretty much forever unless some thing knocks it out of there physically or mentally. |

Um, everything that's remembered after a period of about ten seconds is
long term memory. Names of children fall under that category. And Alzheimers affects long term memory, not short term. |

fyi Altzheimers is actually the other way around..you lose short term
while long term stays in tact for quite some time
