With the ablity to destroy entire cities in the blink of an eye do you
think war is any longer something we can allow on the earth as a
species?

If you do think it is usefull please state its usefulness?

Describe for me how war will enhance our future?

Will it feed people?

Will it power our cities?

Can you use it to plow a field?

Will it put shoes on our feet?

Can it give you the things you want out of life?

It is time to defeat this beast once and for all.

War is only an option to those who profit from it.
It is them we have to convince that they are destroying the entire
earth, and that at the end of the day their profits won't do them any
good.

It would be nice if the bible, constitution or law books actually meant
anything to politicians.
They twist, misinterpret or ignore them to suit their needs.
Just pieces of paper.
May as well use all that paper for oragami.
Make a nice pterodactyl.

Harry, I think this goes much deeper.

Those who produce the weapons and sell them are those with the money.
They chose which candidate to back, and when they have him in office
they use this same money to put him under pressure.
It just goes and comes around in circles, time and again.

Suffer not a politician to live that doesn't read.

I keep hearing people screaming about how they would die to defend the
bible, die to defend the constitution.
Why don't these same people exercise their rights and get the greedy
bastards out of office with the laws that are in place?
Have "they" managed to distort the laws to the point where this isn't an
option anymore?
Sorry Andrea, I'd hate to think violence would be the only way to rid
the world of these self serving azzholes.

Well, don't worry, I said the same thing to Oceans yesterdayohwell

Wouldn't it be great to really get ALL people together and start a
peaceful revolution? No weapons, only bodies, all of them marching to
Washington. I don't think GWB would dare to let the guards shoot unarmed
people, women, men and children.

AB,

I think war has had its uses in the past. Consider where we would be
had things turned out differently from WWI/II, the U.S. Civil War or the
Revolutionary War. As horrible as they were, they did lead to better
things. One could argue about the current conflicts throughout the
world but even they serve to remind us of how horrible and how costly in
terms of lost lives, money, etc.. war really is.

It's nice to talk of peace and I would much rather be at peace but the
fact is people of this world do not and will never see eye to eye on a
multitude of issues. History clearly proves that many will use force or
war to achieve their goals or if they feel like they're being attacked.

I hate to be negative but we are by nature hateful creatures more
concerned with our own selfish agendas than the welfare of our fellow
man/woman. We are prone to fight, bicker and belittle as opposed to
compromise and try to understand. If anyone needs any proof of that
just look at some of the comments made to each other on this and other
sites. Throw in language barriers, religeons, etc and we're pretty much
screwed.

Allow it?

That's the kind of language that starts wars.

so watt are ya saying sparky are you saying we are stuffed and we are
evil creatures unable to change the way things are ?i do not beleive in
compromise and i do not believe the idea that its just human nature to
be evil.we learn how to behave badly .we have evil leaders on this
planet telling us its ok to do their evil.fuk them!never met a person
yet who dosent want love in a peacefull world.

Karizman,

I'm saying we have evolved a certain way based on necessity and survival
of the species. It's been this way since the dawn of mankind from both
the scientific and religeous accounts.

It's interesting you should mention our world leaders as being evil.
There's truth to some of that and certainly all of it from your
perspective. Then again others believe the country of _______(fill in
the blank) to be evil because of what they did or didn't do to be evil.
Doesn't matter if it's true or not. It's all about perception and bias.
Then we go back to survival of the species and we solve our problems.
Of course this is only 1 aspect of a complex thing. Throw in greed,
power, sex, family, religeon, etc.. and it gets worse.

It is true that there will be some who can and do behave rationally and
peacefully but there aren't many. Utopia does not and will not exists
anywhere on this planet with our species. It's simply not in our
nature and not really in the nature of the animal kingdom in general.
Peace loving, unarmed, well intentioned citizens confronted with armed
foes are more commonly known as victims or slaves.

You are abosolutely right...
and...
'based on necessity and survival of the species.' It is time to grow up
put childish concepts behind us.

Ahhhh, if only it were that simple... Unfortunately, not everyone has
the same concept of what is necessary for survival.

Don't get me wrong. I think it would be great but our evolution towards
tolerance, acceptance, sharing and peace has always been well surpassed
by our abilities to hate, fear and kill each other with greater and
greater efficiency.

Well then Sparky I reckon it is time to change.

Not saying it will be easy.

But it can be done.

One person at a time.

The Tibetans followed the path of peace for hundreds of years until they
were overrun and turned into salves and servants and largely conquered.
It was a nice run while it lasted. Just think it could have lasted
forever if everybody else believed the same way.

Well it seems that many of them died for their peace, a noble effort,
but now their conquerers live on and control the country and people.
