Topic: Social spending or emergency services? | |
---|---|
Both on the federal and state level budget cuts are happening left and right but still a fundamental issue is where to make the cuts. We know pay cuts are a must for all of our representatives. They do not deserve the pay they are receiving but imagine yourself in the big seat knowing that operational expenses are the first to get cut since they don't want to cut back on the bureaucracy. Where would you make the cuts and why? You choices are between social and emergency services spending.
I would personally cut back on the social spending LONG before the emergency services spending. It is one thing for people to face heard times and have to pull their weight in a recession or depression but handouts all the time fix nothing. It is worst when disaster strikes and there is no one available to rescue our ***** from say a huge flood. Look at what happened to New Orleans. Instead of spending federal money for fixing their levees they built a sports stadium instead with the money. When Katrina Hit look at how the social spending was spent and the raw waste. Welfare is a huge promoter of drug abuse and alcoholism (as in it gives them free money to get their next fix and so 'why do they need to work?' when they are handed everything they need by the government). Government handouts to programs like WIC contribute to people not having the financial responsibility to raise their own children and foot their own bills rather than push the financial burden on every one else. If you can't afford to raise your own children why the heck are you having them? These programs are extended to illegal immigrants as well. That places a unnatural and parasitic burden on our economy and population. Our infrastructure is taxed by overpopulation and likewise the repairs cost a fortune. Social spending is also fraught with corruption and unnecessary bureaucracy. We need police, fire, and other emergency services LONG before we need welfare and welfare itself needs to be fixed. That is where I would make the first and deepest cuts. Now pay cuts for our government officials??? ![]() How about a performance standard? ![]() ![]() ![]() |
