Why would we want to raise our children the exact same we were raised? I'm not understanding that. They are not us, they are their own selves, and the world is different than when we were kids. Just because they are children doesn't mean they don't have the right to be who they are. We all deserve the freedom to be who we are..including children, especially children. Why do we make the terrible mistake of attempting to make our children our clones....

I have gotten my answer. I am not trying to change her as a person/ her personality or anything like that. I just want her to know right from wrong. I want her to understand that all I ask is what society expects from a decent human being. If she wants friends she needs to do what she expects other to do. Also respecting elders is not saying we are superior. There is something to be said about life experience.... |

But because I am the parent I have the ROLE of guiding and teaching my kids,, and not the other way around. I try to teach them as I was taught because I am happy with the way I was raised and I agree with the values and lessons I was taught. I am superior in experience, knowledge, and ability to my children. It doesnt mean I am better or worse. But I definitely have a place in this world AHEAD of them because one can not lead without taking the head. Hopefully, through guidance and experience and healthy lessons they will grow to be the ADULTS who can lead their own lives,, and then we will be a little more EQUAL. |

I was responding to msharmony's post as far as raising her children the way she was raised because it worked for her... I apologize, should have used the quotes..I forget all don't read all the posts. And I was not referring to respect or disrespect of elders....was not mentioned at all. |

I think that we can't do childrens our clones. Parents must teach childrens, explain them behavior rules, what they can do or not. They must know it, because we live in very dangerous, different and interesting world and it not the same when we was a children. We have a most importent thing, it's our experience, and we must transmit to our childrens. I'm receive normally when my daughter tells my that i do anything wrong. It's normal she can tell me this, because if your set rules, your must respect its too.
