Watch as they take down NYC skyscrapers in a single punch and use their superpowers to kill the infidels!…

A group of Islamic superheroes will move their battle against the baddies from comic books to a US cable network this year, its Kuwaiti creator says.

The 99, based on a group of ordinary people who discover superhuman powers and are influenced by messages from the Quran, will air a 26-episode series on the US cable channel The Hub, said Naif al Mutawa, the chairman and chief executive of Teshkeel Media.

“From day one it’s a for-profit company, but it’s a double bottom-line business,” Mr al Mutawa said. “It’s to benefit both the social bottom line as well as the financial.”

The 99 TV show is produced through a joint venture between Teshkeel and Endemol, the Dutch production company known for its series of reality television programs such as Big Brother and Deal or No Deal.

The Hub is a new cable network, a joint venture between Discovery Channel and the toy maker Hasbro, which will start broadcasting on October 10 into 60 million US homes. The 99 is one of six original programmes on the network.

Mr al Mutawa declined to comment on what the deal was worth but said he expected it to produce a profitable line of merchandise in partnership with Hasbro.

“The more successful we are, the more you can actually measure it by the amount of comic books sold, the number of people watching the animation or the number of toys sold,” he said. “That tells you that you’ve made some kind of impact.”

Since launching in 2006, The 99 has been praised for reinforcing positive Islamic messages. It is published in eight languages and a theme park opened in Kuwait last year.

The series received an endorsement from Barack Obama, the US president, last month in a speech on improving relations between the US and the Arab world through entrepreneurship.

Mr al Mutawa said the animation in The 99 would “set the bar of television animation globally”, while a preview of the show reveals it will use a new 3D technique.

“For too long, we’ve been focused in the Gulf at being the first or biggest in something, but that’s irrelevant,” he said. “The standards need to be global and we can and will achieve that.”

I'm not surprised that Mr. Hussain would endorse and praise this series.

I say we get an email bomb of people letting these companies know they are boycotting these to anti American companies.

Proud to be and American Infidel here.

I sort of have to side with Ms. Harmony on that as prejudices like what you just put forth remains throughout history lack of understanding and ignorance. I refuse to believe every Muslim finances terrorism. I tend to believe in the facts of radicals. Sayin 1948 we have made the trade embargo with the Arab World over Isreal. Would Irealites be terrorists instead of Pakistan radicalists. We did supply arms to kill their men women and children. The US signed that treaty, what if it had been reversed? Would all Isreali's be termed terrorists? Was (dare I say it) David Koresh a terrorists, what about radical white arians, or what makes any of these scenarios any different? With throughout history redskins, chincs, jigaboos, crackers, micks, or even wetbacks terms used to degrade a nationality and even religious beliefs? Are we not a nation tolerant of immigrations and understanding (if done correctly through INS). a nation that should learn from its past accepting new culture, warily, of course. Still respecting the culture and religious aspects. Do not tell me hate because not all Muslims fill themselves with hatred. It remains not only mathematically impossible, but ridiculous to think all one race and religion can build itself upon hatred.

Okay allegedly, but to you not believe there should be aSenate Subcommittee investigation on it. If it were the a Republican or anyone else outside of the Democratic Party, there would be. I f a subcommittee does not get called over this, i would feel it would be remiss and the Federal Government would prove not doing their jobs yet again. Everyone complained about the lack of response to Katrina, but my Floridaand the natural habitat, wildlife, coral reefs, and inter water ways suffer due to lack of ambition or idiocy to fix the issue. This man made disaster should stop. American the destroyed. The only way to get back to the Earth we need, everyone would benefit from living like the Amish with a return to grass roots. Walla no more oil disasters. The US must learn to step away from oil and the destruction of oil.
