I have Jury Duty at 8am on the 1st of November. So much for my Halloween...

How much trouble do you think I'll get in if I show up wearing judge's robes? I could explain that I just got out of a Halloween party and didn't have time to change my costume. The summons stipulated that appropriate dress is required. How can they say I can't wear robes if all THOSE people over there are wearing them?

How fast do you think I can get a contempt of court charge?laugh

Lol. I think it'd be hilarious if you showed up in robes, but I don't think the judge and court people would think it's too funny.

After that being said, I think you should just wear the appropriate attire. :)

On another note, I think it'd be quite fascinating to be called to jury duty. Now that I've said that, it'll probably never happen. My grandma is in her 80's and has never been called to jury duty.

I've been called 2 1/2 times. The first time I ended up getting a letter the afternoon before the morning I was supposed to show up saying 'never mind'. The second time I was called I was late and they sent me home and said they'll reschedule me. I got a 'new date' in the mail a month(ish) later. That same day I got a different letter (with about a zillion typing errors) saying that they never want to see me again! I'm not quite sure what to make of that, but I never went to that third date and they haven't arrested me yet. laugh laugh laugh

I'm not at all surprised.
I sent an email to the jury clerk asking if they had something in a night court I could attend instead. Also, since the letter states I should be prepared for airport type security(ok so I won't bring any shampoo bottles), I wanted to know what were the rules for laptops ect. The email I got in return answered none of those questions and was so badly written (and spelled) I want to send another that says something like "Very funny kid. Now let your mother answer will ya?"

Yeah, it it a bit like 'airport security' getting inside. I don't think a laptop would be a problem though. At least around here, I know that you can't carry handcuff keys in unless you have a badge with you. lol

haha-do we even wanna know how you figured that one out?

Lol. My step-bro (who's a cop) had to go to the courthouse for a reason that escapes me at the moment (but didn't have a reason to have his shield with him) and he had his cuff keys on his ring and forgot about it. They took them. The last time I was there for jury duty I had a cuff key on my ring and was also 'confiscated'. The reason I had/have them, I COULD tell, but it's a matter of national secrecy. Or, I just like to keep people guessing. Or, maybe both. HMMMMMMMMM

LOL! I've always gotten out of jury duty, but was there when they (the lawyers) picked jurors for my Ex's trial

I have an ex gf I'd REALLY like to see put away (and have a hand in jury picking), but unfortunately one of the cops in the small, moronic and already corrupt police force for the jurisdiction was best man at her wedding (which was soon before I filed charges).

yeah-he's there because the crooked cops in that county were not interested in who actually committed said crime, but rather who would "cooperate" and make their job easy for them! Not saying he shouldn't be there at all, but I wish his scott free buddy was there too like he deserves!!!

Neither one is getting another chance to jack up my life though!

I hear that! Since I filed charges a few years ago the only few emails I even returned to her were brief and involved her grandmother who was very sick/then died. Even that was only because we were together for 12 years and I got close to her GM.
