After being in a relationship for awhile sometimes it ends and the one ending it just wants to be friends. Is this something that always happens or is it unusual? Do relationships end with no friendship remaining at all? Does anyone have any advice or information to shed some light on this topic?

Most of my relationships ended and I remained friends with them, up to you and them I guess.

How can a friendship be maintained when there was more to it? Doesnt the old feelings or attraction get in the way?

Like I said...that one is on you and the other person, different for everyone.

I know its different for everyone. Perosnally I havent remained friends with anyone I have had a relationship with. Still friends with our mutual friends and so forth. But if there could have been a friendship salvaged I havent experienced one yet.
I just want to know view points.
If it can be maintained, what kind of tips are there on maintaining a friendship if it does seem to remain even after the relationship ends?

Again...different for everyone, my answer is not necessarily going to reflect your situation/circumstances. Friendships can be had after relationships though, almost all of my ex's have remained friends after breaking up so it does happen.

There's very few tips that you will be able to apply to your situation, differing emotions, thoughts, and circumstances. I don't know you, I don't know your ex, I cannot comment as to what will or will not help you remain friends...but honestly, if you are asking this question, do you really think you can remain friends?

I have had no problem remaining friends with those I've dated for the most part. Of course it's not going to work for everyone, but it does work.

Great if you want to be the person to fix all their problems.

Remember Cam you're in a public forum, everyone has a view and it may not always be one you like but they're going to post it nonetheless...

I want to be friends with everyone, I hate it when a friendship ends because you decided to date your friends..
From experience, I would never ever ever date a friend as they dont seem to be able to go back to just being friends.,.,.
Without they come with an emotional turnoff button.

Hey man,,to be very REAL here with ya,,,its really ALL about the reasons for the split,,,and the KIND of people they BOTH ARE?

And ALL the posts have their own meanings to each one of us reading it.
Yours is one of the many topics we go through and or have-had,,so its all good and minds are read through their words on it...

95 percent of the ladies I have ever dated,,STILL remain my today FRIENDS through life...even after they have married,,,wink.
or I become involved in my own.....Thats what GOOD TRY'S AT IT do for the ones really trying to find a sincere partner to be with....

If the relationship is ending, it's for a reason that has been defined unworkable. Why would you want the temptation of getting back together with that person again and reliving the same ****?

I have a rule. I never talk or remain friends in any shape or form with ex's. It works for me. I get over them and move on. But hey, everyone's different. whoa
