WOODBURY, Tenn. (AP) — A Tennessee woman was suspended from her job for three days when she answered her cell phone on the job — to take a call from her son, a Marine stationed in Afghanistan.

The business, Crane Interiors, has since apologized and says Teresa Danford will be paid for the work she missed.

Danford tells WTVF-TV in Nashville that she knew about the company's cell phone policy. However, she says she didn't hesitate to answer the call at work because her son, Lance Cpl. Mark Ryhne, has access to a satellite phone only once a month. She says managers had threatened to fire her if she violated the policy again.

Crane general manager Chris Anderson says the company has apologized to Danford for the situation. The TV station first reported Danford's suspension on Thursday.

I understandt. We work , on the clock, being paid to work and not to hold conversations on the phone. She had a unique situation but her employer has no way to verify it just because she says so at the time.

I wouldnt expect a company to let anyone take personal calls on the clock. I would hope they would make certain 'exceptions' in extreme situations when notified in advance,,,as long as it isnt abused
