Human being is the most developed animal in the animal kingdom of the world. We rule over 'nature'/other animal due to our developed Brain.
Do you spend most of your time on thinking your Past?
or
Do you spend most of your time on thinking your future?
or
You don't bother of your past or future, only live in the present.
What is the best way of living (in your opinion)?smokin

I believe that we should focus on the present, and we should give our best to it,., the result of tomorrow depends on what we do today or in the present.

I think of the past to try and see where I needed to make improvements with in myself and pray not to make the same mistakes made in the past.

I think of the future....set up goals to work toward....knowing that anything can and will change along the way.

I live in the present...take each and every day as it comes. There are days I just shake my head and ask what the f*** am I doing here frustrated .....then I take a deep breath, smile and know I am insane to be sane.

To be in moment to moment "self" forgetting love....with whatever can attract you into that disposition.
to be in the past, is to have attention on "self" or egoity (memory, Thoughts of doubt, regret...desiring an experience again,)

to be in the future, is to have attention on "self" or egoity through...desires to have or to be...to avoid. thinking of possibilities of this or that.

Only when one is "truly" in the "present" are you not "self" but rather there is only The Divine. God communion. Search less beholding of Reality. in my opinion that disposition is found through great devotion and great and profound love. self forgetting love!! where the is no more reference to "i" or "me" there is only...What IS.

so...i totally agree with you. The present is where i personally am impulsed to live. when that state is lived it is the happiest and most liberating condition. but its a sacrifice which one in time has to come to understand.

Great topic! with love, Amar

I constantly refer to what Ive learned in the past, I use those lessons most often in the present, and I plan as well as I can for the future. I think its best to have a balanced respect for and attention to all three.

Age is also a great factor. At young age you don't think much of your past rather put your best to make your future bright.drinks bigsmile

Thinking past for improvement on mistakes is a very positive approach. But I want to quote the saying of one great man, " Fool learns from his own mistake whereas the intelligent learns from other's mistake."smokin

Yes, 'Past' should be used as reference and it should not be obstacle or hinderance in any way.
Futuere should be judged impartially so that it doesn't spoil the present.smokin
