Topic: Can't we just get past all the personal agendas?

Both major sides of the political coin have driven the government into shut down. Think about it and ask yourself, "Why did this REALLY happen?"

As I see it, the two opposing sides aren't getting what they want. This "I'm taking my ball and going home!" attitude simply must stop.

All I'm saying is the blame game is an old tired one. "It's the Republicans..." "It's the Democrats..." I wish politicians on both sides would just man up and try to do what is right for the general populace for once, instead of doing it for themselves.

And what, in your opinion, would that be?

Not real sure, I don't think there is any one definitive solution. It will take many, many, small changes in my opinion. One thing I do know ...it's something different than what's going on now...... obviously.

thats why blame doesnt work, because things change and people have to work TOGETHER

regardless of who 'we' vote into congress or the executive office, they will have to work together with all the other people voted in to work with them

we put too much faith in our politicians to represent us in a vaccuum and make things happen just because they willed it to or we wanted them to,, and it doesnt work that magically or simply

so your saying voting doesn't matter? if i don't do my job at work, or i do other things other than what i am supposed to be doing, i would get replaced. some people have so much hate towards the opposite party, they vote for people that shouldn't be voted for.I think you know i do not believe in magic, i believe that elected officials should do there job, or get replaced. if the next person is a failure too, then replace them. I really feel, for our kids and grand-kids sake, this has got to stop

no, IM not saying voting doesnt matter anymore than I would suggest that it doesnt matter whom an employer chooses to hire

when you do a job at work you have actual JOB DUTIES, specific and definitive activities, you are responsible for completing

our politicians duty is to REPRESENT our interests, which is not a specific and definitive ACTIVITY,,,,all they can do is put forth the ideals of their constituents and HOPE that there are enough other politicians on their side to make it happen,,,,

who we put into office is a reflection of what we WANT to happen, but not a guarantee that it will and shouldnt be seen as a GUARANTEE

who we hire, usually comes with a CONTRACT, a GUARANTEE, of what things the employee will(and is able) to accomplish on their own

why shouldn't we see it as a guarantee? They all make campaign PROMISES, and should be held to that... i personally do not see any politician REPRESENTING the people, rather they have their own agenda, which has little or nothing to do with the PROMISES they made before the election...It is not their JOB to do what is in the best interest of the people and not themselves?

thats just it, I honestly dont recall hearing politicians 'promise' anything other than what they will 'work on' or 'work towards' ,, and most of the time they keep that promise.

often, proposals by candidates, are translated as 'promises' by the mainstream media and the population,,,,

but rarely do politicians make the gaffe of PROMISING things that they cant possibly personally guarantee

its not too clever a play on words

I understand it,,,,

propose: : to form or put forward a plan or intention <man proposes, but God disposes>
2obsolete : to engage in talk or discussion

promise: a : a declaration that one will do or refrain from doing something specified

a proposal for a building site is not a promise the building will be erected,,,,two different criteria

to expand upon what I mean, including the president, there are 536 ELECTED officials in government who have to keep things running smoothly

none of them do it BY THEMSELF and none of them can make a promise that the other 535 will do it

I can promise to go to church every sunday, because it only requires that I control MY activity and movement

I cant make a promise that my whole HOUSEHOLD will go, (although I can propose a plan to try to SWAY the whole household to agree to go) and a government is a HOUSEHOLD, not any one individual person

i guess we have a different understanding of what smoothly is... what about obama's promise of a more transparent government? his minimum wage promise, his promise to close gauntanamo, ... i could go on, but you know what i mean... so because the others in the white house, it is not his fault? your talking in terms of households and whatever, they are outright lying to get votes...

If I were a Republican, I wouldn't like the blame game either.
That's EXACTLY what I'm talking about . . . the democratic politicians are JUST AS CROOKED as the republicans! Why are you so blinded about being correct? It's everyone that is in trouble here. You're not going to get a free pass just because you identify yourself as a democrat or republican!

Just for the record, I am neither Dem or Rep, I hate mindless spending; therefore, I hate both sides equally.
