Here's a little magic trick for everyone.

IF A=B
THEN A*A=A*B
(A*A)-(B*B)=(A*B)-(B*B)
(A+B)*(A-B)=B*(A-B)
(A+B)*(A-B)/(A-B)=B*(A-B)/(A-B)
A+B=B
THEREFORE 1+1=1

Now I'll bet most of you are thinking, "That can't be right! He must have messed up somewhere." But since you can't find any flaws in my math you will have no choice but to concede that I'm right and that 1+1=1.

But I also know a few of you are smarter than the average cookie and just might actually be able to figure out exactly why this is impossible. If you can, then good for you. Just please don't blurt it out in front of everyone left in amazement. Like any good magician, never reveal your secret. Use it to impress your friends.

Algebra is probably my downfall, having taken intermediate algebra more than once, only to pass with a C, I'm going to take (quite possibly) a laughable stab at this, only becasue I really like a challenge.

If we deal with inequalities than we need to get A and B alone on each side of the equal sign. When we do that correctly the end result is not

A+B=B
THEREFORE 1+1=1

Rather it is
A=B so A can be any number and B will be equal to it

Don't laugh - I paid a lot of money to get my C. I'm hoping my forte is in Finite math because I don't have the time or money to get through calculus. laugh

Go ahead bury me but just know that I'm laughing with you, even I can't understand why I can't understand algebra.

Technically, it works out to this:
A+B=(A+B)/2
(English translation: The sum of A and B is equal to half of the sum of A and B.)

So if you substitute A and B with 2 instead of 1 you get;
2+2=(2+2)/2
OR
2+2=2
And so on and so forth.
