The hours of darkness are drawing nigh
And with it a contrast is found.
Ranging from beauty displayed up in the sky
to danger lurking upon the ground.

The still of the night brings a violent time
forcing many to hide in their homes.
Streets are left empty for the committal of crimes,
police reference numbers
as the morning sun shows.

Yet this silence brings a wondrous sight,
Moons, planets and comets afar,
a kaleidoscope sky, an auroral light,
the silent streak of a shooting star.

I suppose it is a little, 17 years ago, As a teenager I guess the world can feel that way.

An just when I was enjoying the universe on display.
Someone came up behind me, and said.
"This is a robbery put your hands up"
