yes, we dont use that language in our family, especially around elders,,, i don't understand the whole censoring oneself at home. i especially don't understand the whole respecting your elders thing. seems pretentious in my opinion. because things we do at home, ESPECIALLY as children , start to seem 'normal' to us so that it becomes harder to control them outside of the home,, its not helpful to put children in that position it takes no more effort to be disrespectful than it does to be respectful, so why not teach children to chose the latter because choosing the former will get them into alot more trouble when they are grown and expected to know better we have no desire to use the language so we dont, I dont consider it censorship but if someone just YEARNS to use that language,, than I guess they will do what they want until it has consequences that they dont enjoy so much,,, |

Well, just like I wouldnt teach my kids to get used to speaking french in an english speaking country I wouldnt teach my kids to get used to 'slang' speaking in a country where that speech is completely unproductive and professionally and educationally speaking is counter productive... |

but what's so wrong about using it in a very simple statement? it's not hurting anyone. and entertainment isn't the purpose. she's just being informative. you can't censor another human being for the rest of his or her life. might as well teach them how to use it in ways that won't hurt others. |

To me it's more the meaning behind the word, not the word itself. If someone is saying: "I think you're a piece of crap" than yeah that's wrong. But if you're using it in another context, I see nothing wrong with it at all. My grandma sometimes will get mad at me if I use the term bull**** in reference to something I don't agree with. To me it's like: Hey I call it as I see it, and that's how I choose to describe what it is. I don't see why I should have to apologize for it, or why it's so bad for. People should focus more on HOW something is being said, not whether something is being said at all. The things we choose to get uptight about......... |
