The two of them sitting there in comfortable silence.

His jeans are torn and her shirt is two sizes too big.

Neither has bathed is what can only be days.

They share a knowing glance and he gets up to walk away.

Her eyes shine when she looks at him and his smile is wide and bright.

A stranger walks up holding out money and they both tense and hesitate.

She is clean.

Why is she helping them?

What does she want?

Zero trust!

The stranger looks between them and takes a step closer to him and says, "Just make sure the dog gets fed."

He takes the money and they both thank the stranger as she walks away.

They walk into the store moments behind the stranger.

She notices but doesn't follow.

It is their money now.

They are in the pet section.

The lady smiles to herself and finishes her shopping.

There they are, on the same bench, feeding the sweet dog.

Their companion, their friend.

The stranger smiles, thanks them and again hands them money.

This time there are no requests.

She is given bright smiles of thanks.

As she walks away she hears murmurs and knows they must think she's crazy but she doesn't care.

She did it because they didn't ask.

Random acts of kindness...love it.
I am a softie for this as my work revolves around those of us in need. Sometimes some kindness is worth more than the money.

Loved it!!!
