To attract attention, it takes a few things, not just an informative/funny profile.

The 1st people see is your main profile photo, so make it a happy, good quality smiling photo. The more photos the better too!

2nd have a creative or accurate nickname, something like monkeylover wont help lol

3rd the profile should contain a little about yourself, why you are here and make it lighthearted.

This is my 3rd day here as a Mingler and I've had 7 profile views, which isn't many at all. So I'm a fine person to give guideance lol. I'm doomed!

I realised it's not a very popular site, strange because it's free. I was wondering, why's nobody lookin?? On other sites you get spammed with bots with fake profiles, so I gotta consider that. I would add 1 to your profile viewers, but ya know... didn't want to come across that way

My experience has been that if you want to get noticed here, you have to spend some time in the forums. A good profile is a great thing to have, but getting known in the forums will generate hundreds of times more profile views. Mine gets lots and lots of views, and I'd guess 95% of those are generated because of something I put in the forums.

If that's true, there are a lot of people who read but don't post in the forums. I get a lot of views it most are not people I recognize from the forums.

Same here, I virtually never hear from anyone I know from the forums. It's almost always lurkers. (A small percentage who write to me don't seem to use the forums at all, but are writing because of my profile.) Various sources claim that lurkers outnumber actual participants in dating site forums anywhere from 10-1 to 100-1.

Well, most of my lurkers write to me because of something I wrote in the forums that they want to argue about. When I suggest that they participate in the forums, they usually say "I don't really have anything to contribute," or "I'm afraid I'll get laughed at."

Yeah, new people in the forums are often pretty sensitive. They seem to have a tough time separating disagreements on topics and taking things personally. Most of the time, things are not personal. Once they realize that, they start to participate more, I think.

I made a thread for lurkers.. but I'm guessing not many will participate.

I tried doing one of those, a long time ago -- I think one or two stopped in to say hi and then vanished from the face of the earth again.

I can't imagine someone not wanting to be in the forums, though -- to me, it would be like standing outside of Arby's, looking through the window, and never going in. What's the point?

Maybe some will stop by and fill us in. I don't understand it either.

Seems like exhibiting a few functional brain cells and having an ability to spell better than a third grader is enough to scare most people away now....!

And if it doesn't scare them, it makes them angry!
