He said goodbye on his own terms
I said I understood
I thought one day he might come back
But I knew he never would..
He was too busy hiding
In a past of guilt and shame
I prayed for his day of healing
But he ran and it never came.
Its time for me to move on now
I have too much to do
I did every thing I could
To help him make it thru

We all have to find our own way
It comes in our own time
The dreams I had for him to heal
Aparently were only mine.
Its easy to get all caught up
and comfortable in our "pit"
Hanging curtains and pictures
And making a home of it
I climbed out of my pit
Quite sometime ago
Now I cant be drug back in
So its time to hit the road.

It pains me to see him run
To see him hide away
He has so much potential
But this time its not my say.
I will wave with a sad heart
that he must stay behind
But that is his decision alone
And I cant change his mind.
Good bye friend Im always here
Should you need a shoulder
Maybe you will choose one day
To see that when you're older

There is too much life to live
To tuck yourself away
You must find life-it wont find you
-Hiding in your pain
But til then you're in my prayers
And I will not forget
How precious to me you have become
How glad I am we met
You made my life so full
And Im forever changed
I only wish I made a difference
So you'd stop hiding in your pain.

"Without your wounds where would you be? In Love's service, only wounded soldiers can serve." Thornton Wilder from the play Angel That Troubled the Waters, taken from the book by Brennan Manning, The Rabbi's Heartbeat
