Watching beauty and the beast with my toddler

it occurs to me that 'beauty' signifies those physical things we are attracted to,,,

so, perhaps physical preferences, although natural and expected, limit us when we make them into mandates

we may miss out on what outwardly may not make the mark, but inwardly would be all we could wish for

when getting to know people in real time, I try to discard those
'preferences' and see who is inside,,,

you?

its been a long road to learning that, :)and your right! we are So focused on what someone looks like, that we could be turning from the one we've been waiting for. I hope ive learned that lesson, :)

It is hard because before you know it, you’ve already reached the point where you don’t bother to look beyond the aesthetic beauty of someone and then you have to recondition yourself to look beneath the surface. It took me a while to do this but I got there.

I try not to be so superficial... but honestly, what do you notice about someone when you first meet them? You dont know their inner-beauty... Its easier on places like this where you talk to them a long time before seeing them in person (tho the pictures do still help with the initial attraction)... Does my guy have to be a perfect 10? no, because i'm sure as hell not!... but i do have to be physically attracted to them...

This is how I view it, especially with regards to dating. Friends I get to know, and the physical attraction isn't so important.

I think looks has ruined it for many people and continues to haunt our society.

This is a little off topic, but I want to mention it cause I imagine all of you have experienced it...you meet someone who ,in the looks department, is not all that and a bag of chips....you're not taken with their physical appearance.....But circumstances, like a job or school for instance, create an opportunity for you to get to know the person, really get to know them, and like magic they become beautiful!!..

I love when this happens, don't you?

Yes, I do. And beautiful women are terrible cooks, too. And if they are slim, too, then they can't even boil a toast no matter how hard they try.

And they are not all that they are crapped up to be in the bedroom, either. They are spoiled, they want everything, they don't give. I have to beg them to understand most times that it is I, ME, who is historically the spoiled one in the bedroom, and they have to change their trend. At this point all of them get up, gather their belongings (and some of mine) and leave.

yes as I believe I have mentioned before on an earlier thread - I really leave my preferences pretty open and avoid profiles/men with a lengthy list of them - especially those that are superficial - race, hair color etc

They definitely do. I have found guys that I thought were cute and after 10 minutes talking to them they suddenly become very unattractive. And, every man I have come to love, I came to find extremely attractive as my love for them grew.
