well the guy was picked up for public intoxication,
striped naked, tied to a chair and pepper sprayed
for 48hours, 10 times they say...then died.

I've s[rayed myself with a good amount of Pepper Spray, I wanted to know the full effect of what I was carrying. It's not that bad.

The police grade is more potent than the stuff sold on the street too. I could see how it could cause respiratory problems that result in death.

I have the Law Engorcement grade and that's what I was talking about. The stuff you can buy in every corner store is nothing more then Tobasco Sauce in a spray bottle.

Seems to me he was treated rather harshly
for a public intox citation...

Why spray the guy again if he restrained in a chair?

The purpose for pepper spray is to 'temporarily'
render the perpetrator defenseless so he can
be apprehended.

Depending on how they are restrained also can make a difference. O know if you have someone handcuffed behind their back and say you lay them face down they can suffocate and they can it other positions while handcuffed.

So, let me see if I get this straight.....

A man is intoxicated, and arrested, so obviously was acting out to be arrested in the first place....alcohol does that...

So, let's strap him to a chair, restraining him further (that won't piss him off more), and then pepper spray him, putting a bag over his head So the effect is even stronger....

Naw...anyone else would just sit there and say thank you... I HARDLY THINK SO!....SO THEY SPRAY HIM SOME MORE?!?!?!?!

NAKED, CHAINED TO A CHAIR, HAND CUFFED, PEPPER SPRAYED, WITH A BAG OVER HIS HEAD!

That sounds like a real threat to me! AND NOT FROM THE PRISIONER!

Your tax dollars at work again, militarizing our local police with their propaganda and terrorist tactics! Then shill attorneys and bought and paid for judges sweep it under the table!

THIS IS NOT THE AMERICA I FOUGHT FOR! IN THAT AMERICA, PEOPLE HAVE RIGHTS!

Think about it! Under the new law just passed by congress.....THIS IS ACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR! EVEN IF THE ACTION IS ON A US CITIZEN......

IMMORAL AND UNCONSTITUTIONAL TREATMENT IN THE LEAST! IT'S HOMICIDE, CRUEL AND UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT, AND TERRORISTIC AT ITS VERY CORE AND SHOULD BE TRIED AS SUCH!

Let's see if we can recreate the incident using Lpdon as the drunk guy.

Actually Sojourning_Soul....his wife had called the police to ask for help. She was worried about him and wanted them to take him to a hospital, some problems with his medication.

So.....they pick him up and this happens.

I'm shocked by the casual-ness over this incident.

People should be outraged!!!!!

I am not outraged. I am scared out of my mind that this can and does happen. More than you realize. We are all in danger. frown

I'm a disabled Vet. I take medications (pre-surgery) for pain. I have PTSD issues (mild, but reoccuring) as well, and certain situations enhance my reactions. I quite simply avoid conflict whenever possible for I KNOW this.

Under these circcumstances.... THIS is what I may have to look forward to should I ever be arrested (heaven forbid) as a result of one of my reactions?

What have we allowed ourselves to accept and become? sad

Ya know, it seems for the most part that this IS acceptable..
now when it's YOUR loved one, husband, child, wife, cousin..whatever
then ya don't want this. But some stranger, eh, who cares!

Pretty ****ed up attitude as far as I'm concerned.

That's the Christmas spirit......

The Fullerton PD here in Cali beat a homeless guy to death this year and they kept it under wraps for weeks. It was only because his dad was a former Sheriff's deputy that the story finally hit the press. His name was Kelly Thomas. If you google him you can see the pic of him in the hospital. But, please be warned...it is truly horrifying.
