One day,
Youngsters will learn words they will not understand,
Children from India will ask: "What is hunger?"
Children from Alabama will ask: "What is racial segregation?"
Children from Hiroshima will ask: "What is the atomic bomb?"
Children at school will ask: "What is war?"
You will answer them, you will tell them: "Those are words not used any more,
Like 'stage-coaches', 'galleys' or 'slavery',
Words no longer meaningful,
That is why they have been removed from dictionaries."

Martin Luther King

how do you learn from what you have forgotten?

I think its a nice ideal, but a terrible IDEA

of course not, I didnt go through a war, but I have learned about how, why , and when and where they happened

it would be useless to erase them from the books and pretend they never were,, in my opinion

we have to have a history, its a fact of life, running from it and erasing it serves no purpose,, learning from it does,,

"Imagine".....Mr John Lennon....smitten

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people living life in peace

You, you may say
I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people sharing all the world

You, you may say
I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will live as one

Personally I would NEVER want to imagine that Heaven does not exist. There is a Heaven. There is a Hell for a reason. I live for today and tomorrow. Just wanted to add my 2 cents :)

Nice to see Martin Luther King and John Lennon named on the same page. I would like to add another name to this list.

President Dwight Eisenhower

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.

This world in arms is not spending money alone.

It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities.

It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population.

It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals. It is some 50 miles of concrete highway.

We pay for a single fighter plane with a half million bushels of wheat.

We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people.

Peace will bring the greatest prosperity of all.....drinker
