You captured my mind
In that philosophy thread I couldn't get you Out of my head. That sweet little smile And, oh so gentle way I remember your first email Like it was yesterday. We talked and discussed You opened my eyes With you I never felt My feelings I need disguise. We parted ways Thinking we'd return I had no idea that the Wheel of Fate was going to turn. I have few regrets in life But, this one I know Burns deeper than any Because I didn't go. I miss you, my friend And, I now understand That life is too short To delay taking someone's hand. |

It's the first poem I've written since my 12th grade Creative Writing class. But, someone reminded me of Steve this morning and I started to cry. And, then this came out.
RIP Steve.

Amazing for a first write....the best poetry comes straight from a heart that is open....like yours

He was a nice man,,and I never knew he passed.. It seems the many who are really someone to get to know better, pass before their time. My Prayers for him and his family,
I'm sorry for your tears, but your poem here is very sweet..and GOOD Ruth. When your mind feels its need to write,,do this some more...

I agree. And you should write more often than just at times when an old flame passes away. Do it in-between as well. We shan't force you to fall for someone while he is still alive -- hey, that would be like asking you to become happy? -- but surely you could write some poetry which is not dependent on someone else's passing away. How do we know that that sweet guy passed away for sure? |
