good point

expect people to be themself,, that way you know upfront that you arent compatible rather than find out later on when they feel more 'secure' that you are in a relationship

those that arent romantic matches, may still be great friends, I have many friends who dont open doors

cant remember a romantic relationship with anyone that didnt though,,,

..lol..

..and they wonder why they are the single ones?

Hmmmm...

Which part is the reason they are still single?

..those who demand or at best expect certain things to take place, that don't, ultimately lead one to remain single.

Call it minuscule, call it minor, call it small; but demands from one while not meeting said demands of another.. usually results inthe concept of being 'single'.

True. I demand monogamy, affection, respect, the ability to financially support yourself, honesty and non-smoking and that has resulted in my still being single.

laugh yea, it's a slippery slope!

everybody has expectations

but negotiation will lead to a connection where demands lead to a resentment

if a man does not pay for a date and that was your (her - whoever) expectation....simply refuse the offer - or don't go out with him

find someone who shares your values

flowerforyou flowerforyou Brilliance

and might I add, if you learn to love yourself and your own company, there will be no REASON for you to accept less than what you really want,,,,

hey thanks harmony! I missed this when u posted it originally and yes, once I again I tend to agree

I am very comfortable in my skin - most people are afraid to say what is on their minds

that would not be melaugh

lol I can't believe this thread is still alive.

Life is not a romance novel or movie, we are all
people and should show each other respect all
the time.

I have held open doors and had them held for me,
I have pulled out chairs and have had those
who pulled them out for me.

Acting like a lady or as gentlemen is not
how you should act on a date, it is how you
should act in general.

If you can not show manners and proper
etiquette on a date, Then that is a good
sign that you likely don't have them at
any time.

you should not feel forced to act this way,
you should want to act this way and be a
decent person in general no matter you're sex.

I agree. I think people are stuck on the romance novel/love stories and think this how people act in real life. Manners are always welcome but some expect way too much. We are not perfect in real life so we shouldn't expect the person we are on a date with to be perfect either. JMO

I think it's possible to be communicate honestly and be oneself and have commnication that is natural and not stilted and still not be rude or disrespectful

stilted conversation in the name of manners is not honest

Well, it's not as good as having him drag you off to his cave by your hair. But, it'll work.
