Is it shallow to have preferences based on comfort zones?
For example, I won't date a man who is in the military (any branch), a police officer, firefighter or FBI. I figured men who are in a direct line of duty are in high risk. Crap happens and I know I couldn't handle it if he were to die on the job. These occupations also demand many things such as frequent moving (military) long ridiculous hours and schedule(FBI, Cop. Does anyone else do this besides me? |

Not every single job is high risk. There are incidents on the job but men who work in a field that is crime investigation related or deal with international war have a higher rate of risk. |

No, I don't think that to be shallow. I received an email today from a young lady on this site saying that I wasn't true to my race because I have "Race Not Important" on my profile and that I sound desperate I guess because I specified what I want.

I had the same ideals. But then I thought, even though it would be really hard to lose someone you really loved, would you not take that risk for love in the first place? Love is a risk, no matter who your with. And by avoiding said things, what would you have missed from just avoiding something that might not even happen... its something to think about

it just depends on how bad you want to be with that person!!
you know going in so yea i would think its all up to the individual i dated a girl for a while and every time i jumped in my race car and go 180 + she would freak she just couldnt hang so i know kinda what your saying

I don't think it's shallow. if you know you aren't comfortable with their job, you aren't. everyone has their preferences.
maybe you will be able to get past it after a while. I personally would not want to be w/ a "metro" sexual. If they guy takes longer to get ready for me, it's not gonna work. |
