Topic: Benten Even Says Paul Wont Win!

The Ron Paul team is attempting to make clear the candidate has neither folded nor suspended his GOP presidential campaign.

"Let me be very clear,” chief strategist Jesse Benton said in a memo Tuesday. “Dr. Paul is not dropping out or suspending his campaign.”

Benton said the 76-year-old Texas congressman will stay in the race until it reaches the Republican National Convention in Tampa in August. The clarification came after the campaign announced a day earlier that it would not spend money in the remaining primary contests --a decision widely interpreted as Paul's de facto concession.

Still, Benton acknowledged Tuesday that the need to “maximize our resources” has forced the campaign to skip the 11 remaining states with primaries and instead focus on district and state conventions to win more delegates and alternate delegates toward the convention.

To keep going, grassroots Paul supporters on Thursday are holding a so-called Money Bomb, a one-day, all-out fundraising effort.

Benton said Paul’s recent success at the Maine convention makes campaign officials think they can win several more states.

He conceded that Paul, who draws large support from Libertarians and the Tea Party, will almost certainly lack enough delegates to win the GOP nomination in Tampa but will have enough to vote on party rules and “shape the process for future liberty candidates.”

“This fight is not over,” Benton said in a letter to supporters. “We will continue fighting and expanding.”

Paul had said in his Monday letter -- the one interpreted by some as a farewell note -- that staying in primary races “with any hope of success would take many tens of millions of dollars we simply do not have."

Did he every think he would win? I don't think so. That isn't the goal. I think the goal is to move America further away from the failing 2 party system.

I'll withhold any comment until I hear what RP has to say himself about any of this, but I assure you, it's far from over as we are winning the majority of delegates.

Something is in the wind....not sure yet what, but something. Hope it's nothing but the strategy discussed and the fact RP doesn't want anyone hurt, or his message tarnished, but the contest continues!

If Mitt Romney does in fact win the presidency this country will fail miserably. The republicans will makes damn sure the uber wealthy get their tax breaks without consideration of what is left of the middle class, in turn he will finish off the middle class and lead us at light speed toward a full on plutocracy. You have got to be a bloomin' idiot to vote for Hussein or Romney.

What Rp has done is convince a few well intentioned but still mis-guided people that he could win. He can't and never will. He will however pull enough votes away from the Republican candidate to ensure an Obama victory and a continuation of Obama's failed socialist foibles.

almost certainly... hardly a open and shut case. You just better hope Romney wins it on the first round, because there won't be a second chance for him.

And don't even tell me you know what's going to happen. You thought you did with Cain, Gingrich and Perry and they all dropped out. Face it, your track record with this election sucks.

Honestly he knew he had no chance at winning. Romney is only 144 Delegates away from the official nomination which EVERY political consultant has stated he will have by the end of the month. The only reason Ron Paul entered the race was to increase subscriptions to his newsletter.

Ummm, I never called the race saying that they've won. I stated I hope they win and they have a good chance at winning and COULD win until they ALL blew themselves up. That's hardly me calling the race at that point.

Romney's got this in the bag

Whatever makes you sleep better at night, you better hope Romney doesn't win, being a loss prevention (whatever you are) is going to be hard to do when stores start going under. Because Romney is just another Obama only a few shades lighter.

Actually Romney was a prat of re-structuring the company I work for and it is currently being operated by Bain and well it is one of the companies that is actually growing right now and opening new stores. Honestly that shows me a lot about Romney.

That's what he does....grows a company, loads it up with debt, makes it look good, then dumps it for the profit. The buyer and employees beware!

The new "owners" buy a company that is unsistanable from the debt, employees are cut (after benefits and wages of course), and still they must close just to get any portion of their money back..... No worries, your job will be available in China if you want to apply...

That shows ME a lot about Robme! laugh

Nope, I would vote for a Democrat for President for the first time in my life. I will not vote for anyone who has isolationist policies.

Once you realize you are a slave, you will regret not voting for Ron Paul. The alternative, whether or not you want to believe it, will either be labelled Revolution 2.0 or civil war 2.0. It certainly will not be about tolerating the delusion of choice, which really comes down to paper or plastic while your jobs become increasingly more difficult for ever decreasing pay, hidden by the delusion of value in our non-sovereign fiat currency. Of course you will also have to dispel the delusion that there has been any real recovery in the past 4 decades, because there hasn't been. In fact, cost of goods relative to income has doubled in the past 40 years, which also explains why it takes two incomes to barely not starve and forget college for your kids. That's the American dream, which you have to be asleep to believe. Yes, you have a job, and are being phucked by the IMF, more so some years than others, but really, you're being phucked by it.
