Recently someone or some people are using my account and a couple others to go online here when we are off. Last nite it occured and I saw it this week eairler when I tried to contact someone and they would not answer. So I called them and guess what? They were in their car. If you use my account for any reason you better be prepared to suffer the consqeunces if I catch you. Keep you damn ass off my account and stay away from my friends. This your only warning. Now if Van or Mike reads this you need to take some kind of action. I was asleep last eve at 8:30 pm but I was told by several different people I was right here. NOT TRUE! Can you tell me who did this and what I and others need to do to keep it from happening again?

if it's just showing you as "online", that could just be a glitch...or the system logs you as online for a set amount of time.

How did this happen, for future reference, Is this someone you know, or did they hack your Password?

my question is...did it just show you as "online", or was your account being used actively, maybe posting in forums or sending out emails and chatting?

My account was active. I also noticed this with a friends account. We always sign off and know for a fact that we are off. I was not on yesterday and want to know why someone is masquarding as someone else?

NOT SAYING THEY ARE USING YOUR ACCOUNT OR THEY ARE NOT, BUT I'VE BEEN ON OTHER SITES THAT SHOW PEOPLE INCLUDING ME AS ONLINE WHEN I AM NOT SO HOW EXACTLY DO YOU KNOW YOUR ACCOUNT WAS ACTIVE AND WHAT SHOULD WE ALL LOOK FOR TO SEE IF OUR ACCOUNT'S ARE ACTIVE?

my point is...if it only SHOWS you as being ONLINE...but there's no postings or emails being sent...then generally, that means that the system just didn't log you out.

that's NOT the same as someone using your account...LOTS of people here have complained that the system doesn't truly log you out when you choose to.

find out how someone can get into your account from the big guns that run the site.

well the reason that I am upset I was told that my account was being used but they did not acknowledge my friends which upset them making them think I was ignoring them NOT true.

i have contacted Mike and asked him to look into it.

...like I told Dan, I use a Mac so I'm on a TOTALLY different operating system. They have Windows for Macs but I don't have it. I'm sure than Van or Mike could put an ip trace or number on his account...to see a location and go from there.

I know what you mean my son and his fiance snuck in my account and compleately sabatoged my cherokeescupid profile so I deactivated that one and came back with this one. They don't realize there is a Privacy policy on here. So their noseyness went to far.

If you turn off your IM you will never show online, so if you want to log out just turn off your IM.

Well no one else lives here so it has to be outside unless the system really does not log you out until you log in again.

maybe...the system showed you as online, and your friends tried to message you. since you weren't at your computer...you didn't realize they had even tried.

it doesn't sound as though someone has actually USED your account, however...which is a good thing.

When you are browsing our site, our system periodically lets us know that you are online. However, after you stop using the site, there will be some period of time when you are still shown as online even though you've stopped using the site. That's because we can't tell from our end that you've left - it's only after a certain amount of time that we assume that you're gone.

My guess is that you had logged off recently, but your friends were still seeing you as online because our system still wasn't sure whether you are offline or not. I doubt it was someone using your account unless you gave your password to someone or they guessed it.
