Not sure if this is the right place for this, but "General Discussion" is for things that won't fit anywhere else. So here goes:

Are there any Comic Book fans out here anywhere? I'm not talking about comic book movies. I'm talking about people who actually READ THEM. If so, what are your favorite titles? What company do you like best? What do you think about the state of the industry overall? In other words:

LET'S TALK COMICS!!!!

I've read comics ever since I learned to read, and have been hooked ever since. I started our reading Harvey Comics(Casper, Richie Rich, Sad Sack). I still have a large collection of them, plus several from the '50s that I've bought over the years. I then went to Marvel and DC comics, where I've been ever since. I read a few indy books, but mainly Marvel and DC.

Favorite titles:
Hulk(World War Hulk storyline is awesome)
Exiles
Jonah Hex
Justice League
Brave and the Bold(team-up title)
DC Showcase series and Marvel Essentials series.
Countdown
Plus too many limited series to mention(but if you get the chance, read Marvel Zombies-great story, and hilarious)

State Of The Industry(in my humble opinion):

I honestly think that we are in another "Golden Age" of comics. So many new concepts, new creators, new directions for established characters. I've never been as excited to be a comic-book fan as I am these days!

Industry as a whole in rough shape DC is just plain sucking and Civil War has taken Marvel into a Very STRANGE place.

WOW.

Good points, Random. Marvel and DC are getting too much into "The Big Event". Civil War was OK, but this "Initiative" storyline makes a lot of their books seem like the same story over and over. Gotta disagree about DC "plain sucking". Their Superman and Batman stuff is pretty bad(has been for years), but check out their lesser-selling titles. Jonah Hex is, in my opinion, the best comic book out there today. The upcoming Booster Gold series looks promising. One thing I don't like about DC is their desire to create new versions of every hero not named Superman,Batman, and Wonder Woman. Hopefully after "The Initiative" and "Countdown", both companies can stay away from the company-wide crossovers for at least three years. But who am I kidding? We'll be lucky if we can go 3 weeks before the next one starts.

My Big Questions are

1.Why Cant DC get there Continuity right? Crisis EVERY YEAR just turns me off to them,Thats one thing I give to Marvel an Alternate Universe Storyline every Once and a while. (Age of Apolcolypes and Heros Reborn)But they ALWAYS go back to Continuity in 616 were as in DC with Each CRISIS it almost a TOTAL cheracte RE-DO

2. Afert World War Hulk what can they do with the Hulks Character after he has Pwned just about every MVU Character.

3. I do know if you have been reading the LONERS Mini(If not pick it up) But I want more 6 issues is not going to be enough to completely te ll this Story

My Big Answers are:

1-DC is of the belief that readership"turns over" every 5 years. In other words, their idea is the average comic-book fan only sticks around 5 years, then moves on. They feel a need for massive overhaul every 5 years. Rumor has it, however, that the current changes they're making will be permanent. We'll see.

2-My guess(and what I'm hoping for)is that this ends with an all-out battle between Hulk's army vs the reunited Marvel universe. This convinces the Govt. to end this super-hero registation crap. The battle ends when Dr.Strange(or the Scarlet Witch)casts a spell on Hulk, causing him to revert back to the '70s "Hulk Smash" version. A new retro Hulk. Haven't seen him since the early '80s. Be good to have him back.

3-Thanks for the advice. Unfourtunatly, just like every other comics fan, I'm on a budget. For every title I buy, there's two more I'd love to get. Maybe I'll find the set later at a show, or get the trade.
