I could see Pahrump going down too. But no, I was commenting on how old all the posts are here, what's the point in replying a year old post.

The regionals are never as busy as the General forums.
You should start there.

Ya but it's nice to have that conversation starter, and the serious plus of a common interest.

I take it you once lived in Pahrump?

It's changed, ... a lot. Gotten too big for my tastes. I like small towns where everyone knows everyone, life is so much simpler. But my retirement failed so I had to move down here for a moment.

The name is Indian, it means water from rock.

I actually live in Manse NV, Manse and Johnie were consumed by Pahrump during the Brothel Wars.

You say Pahrump has gotten too big? I've gone out twice thinking I was going to find this cool little hideout type of town and was very disappointed both times. It felt like an over grown trailer park to me. I'm sure I must have missed something. If you like little towns and haven't been. Next time you come into Vegas stop by Blue Diamond. What a quaint little place. Love some of the houses.

Good description of Pahrump. Been by Blue Diamond many times. I'm about cars, lots of cars, and my Ghost Town set, and plenty of neat junk to build neater things out of. I need my 200 acres back. Anyhow, afraid Vegas wouldn't like me.

Have you tried Gold Point, or the Date Farm, both would make nice getaways. Use to do the local Travel Brochures for around here, but CS just passed. Me and her husband will be picking up the pieces, but I am fairly versed with the arias north and west of Vegas.

I don't know Gold Point or Date Farm. I'm just a transplant who always wanted to live in Vegas. Don't know who CS is either.

You should post pics of some of your cool toys.

CS was an Icon in Travel Nevada, indeed our travel bureau's rep, she was a great person. Gold Point or Date Farm are some of those little hideaways your looking for. You might also enjoy Good Springs or Nelson.

Starting to gear up to republish the Brochures, but this is what they are about, all the little attractions around here. The places to get away to. Day trips.

Pahrump has mostly built homes now.

But when I was living there in the late 90's my son came out from Texas for Thanksgiving and said "Mom, it looks like this whole town could just roll away in the middle of the night".

It's way to big for me now, plus the set up of the roads & town are just dumb, then there are all the meth heads there.

I read the Pahrump Valley Times online & it's scary.

Back about 2002 Pahrump did almost that, blow away. Mobile Homes were literally blowing across roads. And yes there is too much Meth, in the town, in the Government, and in the Sheriffs Dpt, etc. But Drugs are a growing problem everywhere, something we need to fix, and something the Law will never fix, can not, and will not. However, there are a lot of good people here too, in all walks of life. I do kind of like the roads though, they are most certainly not the typical boringly simple squares. As for Pahrump Valley Lies, or their Reflection, well their well earned nickname about sums up everything.
