Harrington was found guilty two weeks ago of breaking a 1925 law for having, what state water managers called “three illegal reservoirs” on his property. He was convicted of nine misdemeanors, sentenced to 30 days in jail and fined over $1500 for collecting rainwater and snow runoff on his property. Crowd of supporters outside Jackson County Jail, Wednesday August 8, 2012. (Photo: Gary Harrington) The Oregon Water Resources Department, claims that Harrington has been violating the state’s water use law by diverting water from streams running into the Big Butte River. ,, putting the law in the hands of the states,, he can move to a state without such laws,,,,,isnt that what constitutionalism is about? This is wide reaching. Cant grow your own tabbaco. Cant buy/sell lemonade. Heck one lady is being evicted for having a garden. You say move if you don't like it . . please, that is hardly an option for most Americans. The real answer is outlaw laws which do not meet the burden of harm, and place the burden of demonstrating harm on the folks who wish to bring charges, or bring complaint. Millions of restrictive laws which require no harm at all for someone to be harmed through force by the government for the audacity of selling lemonade. Protectionists like msharmony are to blame. Huh? You can grow your own tabacco. You can even be a tobacco farmer! You can sell lemonade. You can set up a stand downtown and or by the side of the road someplace and have a little business. You can even make fruit smoothies! Laws and regulations are not that strict! ![]() No leaving your dog poopsie on my lawn though! ![]() ![]() |

Prostitution isn't poison. I mean it's really no worse medically then sleeping around with a lot of people. What about gambling? Don't I own my money? Shouldn't I be able to gamble if I wish? It's my body and if I wished to not insure it medically that should be my decision. IVe got no worries in this area,, sounds like you dont feel like you own yours prostitution isnt illegal everywhere, thats a state issue,, find a state where its legal and go for it gambling , likewise, there are all types of places in Nevada to gamble giving the powers not entrusted to congress to the states,,,,doesnt seem to truly make people any happier does it? I feel in complete ownership of my own though Sounds to me you feel secure in your ownership because you have no negative feelings towards the current government restrictions. Funny how you think it's OK for the state to say you can't do drugs and send you to jail if you do, but damn them if they want Someone to do a drug test to get government aid. telling me not to use poison is a different matter than insisting I let someone poke and prod me just so my kids can eat,,, Because you would rather let your kids starve than pee in a cup? nope, I would not rather have my kids starve, but whats that to do with it if I had to have sex with a football team to get assistance, would that be ok too? or would my objection mean I would 'rather' have my kids starve? my kids need to eat.. yes,,, what I should be forced to do for that help is a seperate issue,,, Or God forbid you have to work to feed them. |

When we are born are we not expected to register our births with the government?
We are collateral for their fiat money. But it is purely voluntary. They believe they own us, but they do not. However they do own everything else including the house we think we own. Nope, we are just using it.... they own it and can take it from you any time they want. |

Regulations on such common things as milk and sugar and lemonade are ridiculous in the extreme and show that the government has shifted to a role of parent, or owner over us vs protecting our rights. If someone wants to drink raw milk they should be able to . . its dumb, insurance shouldn't have to pay for your stupidity, but you should be able to do it. Regulation always starts with some kind of good intention. Oh what happens if the little girl selling lemonade doesn't wash her hands and you get salmonella, oh heavens we need to protect all of those people from themselves. The loss of personal freedom is directly tied to a lack of personal responsibility and is fueled on good intentions. |

Screw regulations. I'm sick of the government telling me what to do.

Major Bloomberg of NYC has definitely come to view himself as a protective and benevolent "parent" to his "flock" and constituents...There's no telling what he'll come up with next. The power has definitely gone to his head. Don't you think?

I already have to 'work' to feed them, again, its not the issue fair pay is an issue, and humane and respectful treatment is an issue too |
