Hopefully, it won't hit there, but I wouldn't wish a large storm on anyone else either. The storm is supposed to hit during the Republican Convention.

It probably won't hit a bullseye but did you know that if a major hurricane hit New Orleans again, it would flood in much the same way as it did the last time? Some repairs and improvements have be made but the city is still below sea level with minimal protection.

If hit again, should the taxpayers pay to rebuild the Big Easy?

only if they would pay to rebuild NYC if another attack occurred,,,,

which Im thinking they would

Americans need to take care of americans when tragedy strikes,,,

Americans need to be smarter than building cities below sea level.

Then again, it keeps illegals employed.

I doubt illegals were so much the concern when the cities were built,,,,

but there could be better protections in place for those cities which are built below sea level...

Illegals were the ones brought in to rebuild NO after Katrina.

As for safety and preparedness,
I hope all residents have gotten wiser.

1. It's not a "hurricane" yet....still a tropical storm.

2. It is affecting the GOP Convention. They had to cancel Monday's events.

Act of God: An unpreventable event that is the result of natural causes; for example, floods, storms, tornados, earthquakes, or lightning.

Is God trying to send the GOP a message?

TS Isaac isn't a message specifically for the GOP.
It is a repetition of a message to humans that life on the Gulf Coast has a particular risk.

The title of this thread is nothing but sensationalism, because the exact path that Tropical Storm Isaac will take is unknown.

Here is a path projection that was made 15 hours prior to this post:

First of all, the storm was expected to reach hurricane strength around Florida and the path was a bullseye on New Orleans when I posted the thread. If you click on the NWS hotlink, it still pretty much is.

Second, I can't change the title of the thread one hour after posting.

Thirdly, the thread is about the "what if" of a big storm hitting NO again and causing major taxpayer expense again.

Anyone who expects 100% accurate weather prediction on a mingle thread needs to go the mysterious phenomena section.

It's certainly looks as if the predictions are 'right on' for Issac to hit NO.

They said this morning that when Katrina hit, it was the "dry' western side of the hurricane that hit NO..That doesn't look as if it's going to be the case this time. At best, they are going to get a lot of water. I hope their new Levy pumps can take the surging.

That's right. The wind didn't cause any unusual amount of damage from Katrina, it was all flooding. The conditions are being set up for a similar event. Cuba got 9-1/4 inches of rain in six hours from this storm.
