Israeli regime threatens Gaza-bound ship with military force The Tel Aviv regime has warned that it will use its military force to stop a Swedish-owned ship under the Finnish flag attempting to break the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip. Finnish Foreign Ministry spokesman Risto Piipponen said on Saturday that the Israeli regime said it would “take action to stop the ship from reaching land if it tries to break the blockade.” “We pointed out that it is a civilian vessel and urged them to practice restraint in any action they take,” Piipponen added. The vessel, Estelle, which is transporting a group of activists and a cargo of humanitarian aid for the Palestinians, left the Italian port city of Naples on October 6 and is expected to reach Gaza next week. On May 31, 2010, Israeli forces attacked the Gaza-bound humanitarian Freedom Flotilla in international waters in the Mediterranean Sea, killing nine Turkish nationals aboard Turkey’s Mavi Marmara and injuring about 50 other activists who were part of the six-ship convoy. Also in November 2011, a Canadian and an Irish yacht were prevented by Israeli forces in the international waters Of course if anyone wishes to distribute aid to Gazans then they can simply use the well established inspected channels rather than trying to use smuggling routes which are prohibited because they are known to be methods of smuggling arms which are used in terrorist attacks against Israeli citizens. ![]() ![]() ![]() The goal of these ridiculous propaganda stunts is not to deliver aid or support of course but rather to start altercations. Fortunately no one is fooled by these stupid, futile and pointless provocations. The OP's info supplied by the Iranian government's own propaganda machine no less! ![]() That's credible! ![]() Deserves a Double One! ![]() |

ERUSALEM — The UN’s Middle East envoy said on Sunday that he’s alarmed by attacks blamed on Israeli settlers against Palestinian farmers and their olive trees.
Robert Serry, UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, said that Israel must do more to protect Palestinians and their property in the West Bank in a statement sent to reporters. Israel’s military had no immediate comment. The West Bank, claimed by the Palestinians for a state, is under Israeli military rule. “I am alarmed at recent reports that Israeli settlers in the West Bank have repeatedly attacked Palestinian farmers and destroyed hundreds of their olive trees at the height of the harvest season,” Serry wrote. “These acts are reprehensible and I call on the Government of Israel to bring those responsible to justice.” He continued: “Israel must live up to its commitments under international law to protect Palestinians and their property in the occupied territory so that the olive harvest – a crucial component of Palestinian livelihoods and the Palestinian economy – can proceed unhindered and in peace.” An Israeli rights organization, B’Tselem, counts 450 Palestinian-owned trees either damaged or uprooted since the harvest season began on October 10. Every year a small number of extremist Jewish settlers carry out attacks during harvest season. Most attacks occur close to Jewish settlements in the West Bank. Olive groves provide crucial income for Palestinian farmers. http://www.timesofisrael.com/un-envoy-alarmed-by-attacks-on-palestinian-trees/ How vile and cowardly to attack poor simple farmers. |

Everyone hates Israel because they set a bad example for their part of the world. They don't fund terrorist camps. They don't train suicide bombers. They haven't used weapons of mass destruction even though it's a general consensus that they possess them. They don't want to destroy the United States of America. They don't kidnap civilians and saw their heads off with dull knives on video.
Who the hell do they think they are to screw up the status quo over there with such oddball behavior? ![]() |

Israel’s defense forces have boarded a ship attempting to break through the Gaza blockade in “a peaceful operation.” The vessel was carrying Palestinian activists, parliamentarians and humanitarian cargo, said a mission spokesperson.
Six Israeli naval boats surrounded the SV Estelle’ 38 nautical miles from Gaza while it was still in international waters. http://rt.com/news/israel-board-ship-gaza-851/ Well at least Israel did not shoot anyone in the back this time. |

Six Israeli naval boats surrounded the SV Estelle’ 38 nautical miles from Gaza while it was still in international waters. http://rt.com/news/israel-board-ship-gaza-851/ Well at least Israel did not shoot anyone in the back this time. Read this some time! Gaza–Jericho Agreement (Annex I, Article XI) which vests Israel with the responsibility for security along the coastline and the Sea of Gaza. The agreement stipulates that Israel may take any measures necessary against vessels suspected of being used for terrorist activities or for smuggling arms, ammunition, drugs, goods, or for any other illegal activity. Helsinki Principles on the Law of Maritime Neutrality 5.1.2(3) Merchant ships flying the flag of a neutral State may be attacked if they are believed on reasonable grounds to be carrying contraband or breaching a blockade, and after prior warning they intentionally and clearly refuse to stop, or intentionally and clearly resist visit, search, capture or diversion. 5.1.2(4) Merchant ships flying the flag of a neutral State may be attacked if they: (a) engage in belligerent acts on behalf of the enemy; (c) are incorporated into or assist the enemy’s intelligence system; (e) otherwise make an effective contribution to the enemy’s military action, e.g., by carrying military materials, and it is not feasible for the attacking forces to first place passengers and crew in a place of safety. Unless circumstances do not permit, they are to be given a warning, so that they can re-route, off-load, or take other precautions. 5.2.1 Visit and search As an exception to Principle 5.1.2. paragraph 1 and in accordance with Principle 1.3 (2nd sentence), belligerent warships have a right to visit and search vis-à-vis neutral commercial ships in order to ascertain the character and destination of their cargo. If a ship tries to evade this control or offers resistance, measures of coercion necessary to exercise this right are permissible. This includes the right to divert a ship where visit and search at the place where the ship is encountered are not practical. 5.2.10 Blockade Blockade, i.e. the interdiction of all or certain maritime traffic coming from or going to a port or coast of a belligerent, is a legitimate method of naval warfare. In order to be valid, the blockade must be declared, notified to belligerent and neutral States, effective and applied impartially to ships of all States. A blockade may not bar access to neutral ports or coasts. Neutral vessels believed on reasonable and probable grounds to be breaching a blockade may be stopped and captured. If they, after prior warning, clearly resist capture, they may be attacked. |
