A couple of days ago a man blacked out & ran into the house, my car, and my nanas car. He is diabetic and blacked out behind the wheel because his blood sugar is low. My car has severe damage to the passenger side doors / windows and it knocked off my side mirror. Since my car is a 93 Caprice classic they are trying to tell me the damage to the car is more than the value, which is complete ******** my car still runs good I don't even have 100,000 miles on it yet and now they are trying to give me blue book value on it ( about $1,000 ) instead of paying for the damage he caused, I wasn't even driving!!! I want to keep my car and get it fixed is there a possibility that they will fix it or will I have to settle for a little bit of nothing?

I'd get an opinion from an attorney. Insurance law is a big pain, anymore. Good Luck

If you're in the US, I think the way it usually works is that you can take the money the ins. co. gives you for totalling the car and use it to repair it. It's not always the best thing to do, but a lot of times people will do it if they really can't afford another car. Talk to some friends and get their opinions. There must be a lot of people you know who've been in this situation, or their friends or family have.
