LITTLE ROCK — A former band teacher at Izard County Consolidated School was indicted last week by a grand jury in Little Rock.

Stacy Lynn Tucker, 39, who formerly lived at 103 College Drive, Melbourne, allegedly came under scrutiny after he entered a chat room and began talking with someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl but was actually an undercover police officer in another state.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Karen Whatley told the Guard Tucker has been indicted on one count child pornography.

According to FBI Special Agent Ed Jernigan, who was the lead investigator, Tucker began chatting on or around Jan. 23 with the officer and represented himself as an Arkansas couple comprised of a 39-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman.

According to the affidavit filed with the United States District Court in Little Rock, Tucker said he loved “young hot girls” and wanted to trade pictures. He also said he was into role playing and asked if the girl was still a virgin.

The officer indicated “yes.”

Tucker continued to ask if the girl wanted to role play as a dad and daughter, young neighbor or as teacher and student.

In April, the investigator again chatted with Tucker, who sent the officer numerous pornographic images of adults depicted in sexually explicit situations, the affidavit states. At that time Tucker indicated he lived near Batesville.

The following day, the investigator was again online and was contacted by Tucker. Once again, Tucker sent several pornographic photographs, one of which appeared to be of a nude white girl about 11 to 13 years old, with brownish hair and freckles. The affidavit states that the girl appeared to be taking the photo of herself.

Tucker at that time talked about role playing.

“What did we do yesterday?” Tucker asked. “dad/dau, young neighbor student/teacher?”

He went on to ask, “dad/dau today? How old do u wanna be for daddy?”

The officer asked “how old u want me 2 be?”

Tucker responded, “14.”

“thatz cool ... that’s my age,” the officer typed.

Tucker replied, “mmm.”

The affidavit details several sexually explicit conversations that took place between the two.

On May 23, the officer again went online and was asked by Tucker to once again share photographs. Tucker once again wanted to role play and set the scene.

In April, investigators learned the login name being used for the chats were addressed to Stacy Tucker, formerly of Mena and more recently, of Melbourne.

Tucker used the screen name “m719532003.” Mena’s ZIP code is 71953.

Officers then began piecing together the necessary information posted by Tucker and obtained a warrant to search his residence.

On June 5, officers confiscated a laptop computer, with a web camera, along with other computer related items, telephone numbers and an envelope bearing possible passwords. The warrant gave officers authority to take anything of sexual content and any and all items related to child erotica.

In the affidavit, it is noted that individuals involved in the sexual exploitation of children through child pornography almost always keep copies of their sexually explicit material, especially when they are used in the seduction of children.

“Those materials are treated as prized possessions,” the affidavit states.

On Tuesday, ICC Superintendent Fred Walker told the Guard the indictment was news to him.

Walker said Tucker worked at ICC for one year and quit on June 19. Walker said it was his understanding Tucker had been offered another position at another school. Walker said no school has requested a copy of his file.

While employed at ICC, Tucker was a band instructor for grades 5 through 12. Walker said Tucker’s previous job was at Sheridan. Walker said ICC has a policy of doing background checks on all new hires. He said Tucker got married after he started working at ICC.

He said there had been no complaints about Tucker during his employment at ICC, nor did it raise any red flags when he quit because band instructors are known to “move around.”

Under the Freedom of Information Act, the Batesville Daily Guard requested Tucker’s personnel records from ICC at Brockwell.

The contract reflects Tucker has 17 years of teaching experience; he was hired in June 2006, with the contract covering Aug. 8, 2006 to May 25, 2007, at a salary of $46,310. Then at a school board meeting May 16, his salary was increased to $46,970.

Tucker received his teacher’s license from the state Department of Education in instrumental music and has his license to be a principal for grades 5-12.

In his resignation letter, dated June 19, he states, “I, Stacy Tucker, offer my resignation as ICC Band Director effective immediately.” The letter is handwritten on Arkansas Tech University letterhead.

If convicted, Tucker will lose his teaching license.

My band teacher in Middle school was arrested during class....due to "intimate" dealings with students. Turns out he was messing around with boys in the band during "after school sessions". I dunno what it is about band instructors, but they always seem to be the ones that get popped for these types of things. Oh and BTW same school a teacher that taught middle school was arrested about a month ago (I attend back in the early 90's) for picking up young girls/students. What a world ewww.
