MT THEORY IS:

IF YOU AIN'T GOT NO MONEY, TAKE YOUR BROKE A** HOME

================================================================

Nascarcutie:

Attitudes like that are the reason most guys stay single these days.
After all, who wants to support a golddiggergrumble ?

If that truly is your attitude, good luck in your search.
Sadly, I feel you're going to need it.

Knox I don't see it that way exactly.

If you have a hundred dollars or ten thousand dollars, you are in the game one way or another. If you haven't got a dime you're just missing all possible opportunities that come your way, which implies that you are a lazy good for nothing bum with ho hope and no future. Would you want your daughter to marry such a guy, who spends all his time smoking pot and playing video games and asks your daughter to take him here and there and buy him this and that because he can't get off his sofa and do something for himself?

Philosopher, I think you misunderstood what I'm saying, but just a bit.

I agree with you concerning the lazy, unemployed, no good bums. If I had a daughter, I'd do my damndest to keep her away from idiots like that.

No, sir, I'm talking about the guys that make an all right living, but can't afford the candlelight dinners every night, the fancy sports car, the weekends in Paris, ect. Women need to realize that there simply aren't THAT many men who CAN afford all that--and the ones that can sure aren't going to be on herelaugh. While it's good to have ambition when seeking a mate, you still have to keep it realistic.

I'm just hanging tight, waiting to see if either Gypsy or Bay Gal mentions that they want to take someone to Paris for the weekend and, incidentally they just happen to have the money to pay for it as well.

I knew a gal once who said she was going to pay for her trip to Paris by growing really long hair under her arms, then she was going to cut it and sell it as an armpit wig for people who felt they really must fit in when they went on their own trip to Paris. She figures she could sell it at the Air France counter, no problem. Hopefully Gypsy and Bay Gal will have better plans as I don't want to be skulking somewhere in the lobby while they ply their wares.

Sorry Philosopher, but I'd ask gyps to go to Paris with me before I'd ask anyone else! love We plan to sell trinkets and love potions out of our travelling caravan in order to finance our meanderings. laugh laugh Your idea of selling armpit hair at the Air France counter will be our plan "B". laugh laugh laugh

Well. I would probably be interested in some of that love potion, but we'll have to devise a test so I can be sure I'm getting the right stuff.

I have to agree with nascar and phil on this one!!

strong women of independant means are often the target for charming 'users' that give a good SHOW at being independant.. but within no time they are 'layin around waiting for someone ELSE to bring home the bacon then SPEND it..' users are just that.. users.. and life would be SOOO much simpler if couples could work as a TEAM.. mega-bucks are NOT required.. just enough that either could support the other in a time of need.. but NOT turn it into a abusive situation of the other finacially.. in other words.. BOTH parties should bring their share to the table.. in ALL aspects.. to make a GOOD life TOGETHER!

I don't recall a time when I HAVEN'T worked and 'paid my way' yet know far too many men sadly that seek out certain women in order to be 'kept'.. that's not living.. that's abusing.. I don't care if you have lots of $$$ in the bank or not.. (although yes phil.. it DOES show character strength) yet with 2.. there's more chance of achieving mutual financial goals IF both strive for those very same gains..
but that's just MY opinion

Zero, I don't know much about the sort of guys who target women the way you mention, but I know they do exist. Mostly I have heard some anecdotal accounts from women I have met. That sort of thing is usually pretty far from my life. I have seen some women who were quite a lot like that towards men and I'm pretty careful about what I'm willing to give to help someone out, particularly if they are pretty and using their appearance to gain favor. I know some guys who have been hurt very badly. I'm doing ok myself.

People have to have character, work together and trust one another. It all goes hand in hand. After that its also good if they have enough to keep themselves comfortably.

Bay Area Gal, close your eyes for a moment.

Gypsy I'm having a look around to see if I can find my passport. That was an invitation wasn't it? Don't tell Bay Area Gal, she'll be trying to go in my place. Dang its tough to keep a secret on here.

--> Hmm...I am wondering how people are defining "strong independent women" (SIW) here? It's not been my experience that I've been a target for "charmers", but then again, I also don't define myself as your typical "SIW", so I am at a loss as to how to disagree with this. All I know is that the text above doesn't sit well with me. I DO agree with the latter, that "users are just users". People will show their true colors over time and it's pointless to ever try to change them.

--> Yes, that was correct. It was an invitation - from ME to GYPS. How did you get into the picture?? Leave it a man to get all his facts wrong - AGAIN!
