Disgraced former Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. was sentenced to 30 months in jail Wednesday for campaign fraud.
Jackson and his wife Sandi are due in a Washington, DC, federal court at 9:30 a.m. ET.
Jackson pleaded guilty in February to illegally spending $750,000 in campaign funds.
His wife also pleaded guilty on a related tax fraud charge.
The Chicago Tribune reports both could be sentenced to jail time.

His wife Sandi said " I told you not to buy those moose heads". Jackson replied " shutup, I thought they was Michael Jackson dolls"

At their sentencing, both Jacksons wept and apologized for their wrongdoing, and asked that they serve their sentences consecutively so their two young children would not be separated from both parents during that time.

“My heart breaks every day with the pain this has caused my babies,” Ms. Jackson said, reading from a prepared statement.

Mr. Jackson’s attorneys blamed his actions on severe depression and bipolar disorder, which US Attorney Matt Graves said was unsubstantiated because the defense did not offer expert testimony or an examination of Jackson. “When one looks at the facts, it’s quite clear that there’s no there, there,” Mr. Graves said.

Jackson in Congress from 1995 to 2012. His wife served as alderman from 2007 until her resignation in January.

WASHINGTON: Jesse Jackson to spend a few months in an Alabama Camp for “a serious mental health condition” Jackson’s lawyer Reid Weingarten said. Jackson was found guilty of “misspending” $750,000 from his campaign fund. His wife, Sandi, a former Chicago alderman, is expected to be sentenced within minutes on a related charge. The couple are planning a second honeymoon during their visit to the camp.

The Jacksons, both Democrats, pleaded guilty in February after a years-long spending spree with campaign funds. Among the loot: a $43,000 Rolex watch, furs, vacations, two mounted elk heads and memorabilia ranging from a Michael Jackson fedora to an Eddie Van Halen guitar. Jackson agreed to return the watch, furs, and elk heads along with the Michael Jackson fedora, but requested ownership of the Van Halen guitar be transferred to “R.O.C.K. In The USSA” - an obscure character known to inhabit TPC.

Jesse Jackson, " Today I manned up."

The former congressman, addressing the court, stopped several times before the judge, to blow his nose in a tissue. At one point, he tried talking but whispered “I can’t see” because his crying was fogging up his glasses.

Jackson Jr., 48, who had been blowing his nose and sobbing during his remarks to the judge, appeared to break into a half-grin as the news of the sentence settled in.

“I want to make it a little inconvenient for everybody to get to me,” he muttered through tears.
