I will give an example of perceived bigotry on the part of Rev. Jackson.

A few years back, Rev. Jackson visited the state of Oklahoma in order to protest the scheduled execution of a murderer. At that time, Rev. Jackson said that his protest was due to his opposition to the death penalty.

Well, the only time that Rev. Jackson protests a scheduled execution is when the person to be executed is black. Apparently, he is opposed to the execution of black murderers but not opposed to the execution of white murderers.

ID say that's a false perception then

bigot, as far as im concerned, is one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance

I see no intolerance of anyone or hatred of anyone just because someone speaks out against the death penalty and happens to try to get a stay for a black person on death row

JAcksons stance on the death penalty "Quite apart from the specific cases in Oklahoma, it is my belief that it is neither our job nor our right as a people, as a government or as a country, to use homicide as an instrument of social policy. If one of the most fundamental aspects of human development is learning by example, what then are we teaching our children by carrying out the barbaric practice of state-sanctioned killing? As Gandhi so simply put it, "An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.""

Rev. Jackson protested the execution of a black murderer, but he doesn't bother to protest the executions of white murderers.

So, on the surface, it appears that Rev. Jackson's opposition to capital punishment is limited to opposition to capital punishment for black murderers.

So, Rev. Jackson has given the label "barbaric" to something that God actually required of the ancient Israelites. Go figure.

I thought the topic was how he is a bigot for opposing the death penalty for 'only' black folks,,,,lol

but I will play along

thou shalt not kill,, is the commandment that comes to mind

also 'commanded' that anyone disrespecting their parents be put to death

also, whoever sheds mans blood by mans blood should their blood be shed

which means we should be out of soldiers soon, and every prison employee who pulls the switch. and most every day joes and jills who have ever had a harsh word against their parent

I don't happen to be of the spiritual belief its meant to be taken that far,, and stick with CHrists example of forgiveness

those who want to debate a humans right to decide what human should live or die are free to have at it,,,
