Patriotism or Vandalism? Freedom Fighters spraypaint over speeding cameras

http://thelibertarianrepublic.com/patriotism-vandalism-freedom-fighters-spraypaint-speeding-cameras/

The cure for 1984, is 1776!

Like the patriotic Bostonians who threw tea into the harbor, American citizens are once again tweaking the nose of big government, this time in Maryland. A Wicomico County patriot painted 1776? over a speeding camera, blocking the view of the cameras that catch drivers committing the victimless crime of speeding past an inanimate object.

The Blaze reports:

According to WBOC-TV, speed cameras in Wicomico County raked in $40,000 for the police department last year, funding computers, a K-9 unit and uniforms.

This isnt the only location in Maryland where speed cameras have come under attack. In Tacoma Park, a camera that issued more than 1,000 tickets in less than three months was spray painted black last month, WJLA-TV reported.

We hate them! And this camera taking a hundred dollars here and a hundred dollars there. Money coming out and not coming in! We are gonna feel it everybody feels it! David McKenzie of Hyattsville told the news station.

Despite costing taxpayers millions every year in productive capital, more and more counties across the country are installing the unconstitutional cameras to bilk taxpayers. A Florida judge last year found red-light cameras unconstitutional and a movement has sprung up across the nation to fight the Orwellian encroachment on due process and the sixth amendment.

The debate about this could stretch longer than all the roadways in America, but boiling it down to the basics:

1. Such "Orwellian" devices, which they are, do indeed infringe on our privacy...but...
2. Until we get the irresponsible, life-threatening, and idiotic jerks who drive like maniacs to become responsible and safe, such devices may have justification.

As with all things: Freedom DEMANDS Responsibility.

My Two Cents,
G.

Patriotism!

I think the cameras are all about revenue, not saving lives and reducing injurieswhoa .Seems the only studies being cited are those made by the insurance industry, another colossal consumer rip off!grumble Also, is it even legal to issue a ticket for a moving violation to the registered owner regardless of who is violating the law?spock Just how reliable is a video shot of a car and driver running a red light or driving 40 in a 30?what .So now the courts are bogged down with drivers spending their valuable time and hard earned money to prove they are not drivers and all this at tax payers expense!rant .I say let the police police and add jobs if necessary, automation has killed enough of them already:angry:

I feel so much better now!laugh laugh

you ought to feel better, seeing your Tax-Dollars hard at work!
Big Brother as usual not missing a Trick!
Here they are located strategically right after the Speedlimit has changed to a lower rate, and usually at the bottom if a Hill, where it can inadvertently happen that the Limit is exceeded!
Then they also constantly change the locations of the damn things!
