A Plea for Caution From Russia: What Putin Has to Say to Americans About Syria

MOSCOW RECENT events surrounding Syria have prompted me to speak directly to the American people and their political leaders. It is important to do so at a time of insufficient communication between our societies.

Relations between us have passed through different stages. We stood against each other during the cold war. But we were also allies once, and defeated the Nazis together. The universal international organization the United Nations was then established to prevent such devastation from ever happening again.

I actually read Putin's letter today. I must say, Russia has its own issues for sure, and some of their policies and way of life do not quite agree with our own lives in the west. HOWEVER, upon reading his letter, if it was indeed him who wrote it, I dont think he is as skewed as I once thought. He is in a tough position. Obama is in a tough position.

Do you sit back and let another country genocide its people as has happened so many times before and is still happening right now? Or do you intervene and once again be the "guy who sticks his nose in other countries business because he has a bigger gun?"

I personally am on the fence with this one. We cannot sit back and let another genocide happen, then again, we cannot let the united states be known to be that "guy" that likes to go into other countries and stir the pot for a while.

I wonder if they talked about allowing another country to go in and assist in their cival war. Even if intervention is needed, who says it has to be America who intervenes.

I find Putin to be very arrogant, but unlike Obama, Putin puts his country first and never apologises for Russia being Russia.
