I'm not very savvy when it comes to politics. I was wondering if someone here could explain this part of healthcare to me. Apparently insurance companies won't take people with preexisting conditions so part of Obamacare is making them do it.

Many people view that as a bad thing because it will make demand of doctors and healthcare professionals go up while supply of the same is limited.

I don't know myself. I think everyone should be able to get treatment, but I guess our healthcare system is already pretty taxed.

What do you think?

I think our corrupt, power grabbing gov't, should stay the hell out of personal choice decisions like healthcare, education, and religion.....

PERIOD!

Insurance companies exist in order to make a profit for their stockholders.

Insurance companies profit by managing risk well.

By accepting a preexisting condition, insurance companies increase the risk that they will have to pay a claim pertaining to the preexisting condition.

Those with preexisting conditions were refused service by insurers so they didn't have coverage so obozo and the idiots stepped in and forced everybody to buy insurance or else and those with preexisting conditions still won't coverage because there is no clause in obozocare to limit premium costs so they can't afford it anyway.

there are policies where pre existing conditions are covered. I have one. bascially healthcare insurance companies are the main reason that the system is so messed up. certain things, like healtcare should not be managed for EXCESSIVE profit.

government should exist to REGULATE insurers to keep consumer costs reasonable, and prevent misuse (unecessary treatments because they would no longer be profitable). rather than running health insurance the government should regulate the industry in the PUBLIC (not corporate) interest. government has not done this particularly well in this country, so I have little faith in their ability to run health insurance. Instead obamacare is nothing but a huge tax increase in the guise of affordable care. when it clearly was not affordable most stopped backing it. it is dying a certain slow death as it should.

Profit and premium caps are what the gov't should be working on in a trnasparent process so that the "public interest" can be assurred that decisions are not made to benefit healthcare corporations and insurers. if profits are capped we will have people in healthcare who are there to serve humanity as it should be.

And just who gets to decide what is excessive profit?
