Botox and plastic surgery may promise to reduce wrinkles and worry lines, but some New Yorkers are turning to facial yoga to achieve a youthful appearance.

At a recent class in Manhattan's wealthy Upper East Side, yoga instructor Annelise Hagen teaches several facial exercises designed to stretch and tone facial muscles.

A group of women practice moves including "The Lion," showing the tongue hanging out and eyes rolled up. Hagen encourages class members to hold the position for 60 seconds, joking: "You can do this any time. It really helps you get a seat on the train."

Hagen recently released a book, "The Yoga Face: Eliminate Wrinkles with the Ultimate Natural Facelift." She said she developed a workshop using facial yoga because women wanted to look their best, "but they weren't really thinking about how to exercise their facial muscles."

She said facial muscles become weak and flabby and need regular workouts and circulation to reduce wrinkles.

Do people really pay for this stuff?

OMFG!huh

Belushi, never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups. laugh They will buy into anything that they think will make them look younger and sexier and spend millions on fad diets and the flavor of the month exercise program. If you want to get rich come up with a new fad diet and write a book about it. I have a diet plan that actually works and I wrote a book about it, it was one page that said "Eat less, Exercise More" It didn't sell

That was like the "phen-phen" (hope I spelled that right) scare a number of years ago. A "miracle" diet pill promising to "melt the fat away". It actually melted LIVES away! Tennessee had the good sense(for once) to ban sales of Phen-Phen, but people simply crossed borders into KY and VA to get it. Note to people: You can take all the "miracle drugs" you want, but laying on the couch eating Bon-Bons all day isn't exactly very healthy. Of, course, when these pills(that some people took by the boatloads without question), did their internal damages, what did these people do? That's right, they SUED!

Folks, it's simple. The main ingredient of ANY weight-loss plan? PROPER DIET AND EXERCISE!

I went to a plastic surgeon and asked him how he could improve my looks. He shook his head and said he doesn't do miracle work.laugh

how did this go from bored rich broads doing facial yoga to once again getting a dig in at fat people? Some of us like who we are,it seems to be bother ing you.People go for the miracle pills and fad diets because of the remarks and judgement of others. They arent stupid, just desperate.
By the way richard Simmons was doing facial excercises for free on his show years ago and they do work.

Hi cutieflowerforyou ,

If by mentioning "a dig in at fat people", you're referring to my post, I certainly didn't mean it in that way. Heck, I'M fat. I was using the "Phen-Phen" story to illustrate our "quick-fix" attitude. Doesn't matter if it's weight-loss, plastic surgery, breast enhancment, or whatever. Our attitudes are we want improvement without having to work for it.

CuteLittleDevilsMom, if you WERE offended at what I wrote, I sincerely apologize. But I didn't mean it to be disrespectful to any group-especially overweight people. I've been battling weight issues for years now, but I know I can't just "take a miracle pill", and expect the weight to just drop off while I sit on the couch. I wish it worked that way.
