yes, and people confuse tomatoes as a vegetable when they are (botanically) a fruit,,,

but usually, in context of conversation, we figure that people aren't including tomatoes when they talk about liking fruit

some assume racism involves hatred or misuse, others define it in terms of ability to oppress, and others define it much more simply as ANY belief system set in race, which a racial system entwined in our history and census itself, clearly is,,,,

lets presume, when people mention racism, that they mean RACISM,, and not merely prefrence

The fight against racism is against its appearance in any kind of legislation, it was originally about racism in laws that excluded some people from enjoying the same freedoms as other people, by law. The ridicule and slander was just icing on the cake, it was the laws (eg. apartheid) which were the big affront, the fact those subject to it were often treated with no better rights than animals by law enforcement and government bodies.

Nowadays in developed nations most racist legislation has disappeared, there are simply remnants of a bygone age still poking its ugly head up because no legal system has really been completely reformed since mediaeval times. Particularly in colonial nations where indigenous peoples were displaced, the very foundations of the legal system were specifically constructed to minoritise the indigenous populations often to the point of dehumanisation, so the very structure of law and governments are based heavily in racist theories and assertions held up with a face of innocence and conviction.

Where it stands today, a modern governing administration and/or legislative body can appease the public at large satisfactorily not by awarding more indigenous awards and compensation for proved crimes, nor by convening trials for accountability and lawsuit upon general humanitarian grounds, but by prosecuting members of the general public accused of speaking a racial slur or in some other way offending a person of a different culture.

This is appeasement to avoid reformation of residual, true racism, that which is buried in the very manner in which colonial nations came into being. And the fact is people which are very different culturally tend to become offended as easily as they are, like all other people, fallible and capable of misinterpretation or agenda.

eg. in Australia welfare organisations are required by law to ask whether any applicants wish to be identified as an indigenous person, so that certain specialised facilities maybe provided.
Yet if you identify as indigenous and live in the Northern Territory any wages or payments you're entitled to are held in trust and not paid directly, an advocate handles your finances by law, because public drunkeness is a big issue there and in trying to combat it, the local government has decided aboriginals are too barbaric to handle money, they're all just going to drink and take drugs with it, so it's kept from them even if they earned it, they have to apply for things they wish to buy with their own money.

Fighting racism whilst being inherently racist. That's the course of public appeasement on racism.

we don't have racial slur laws in the us, unless they are of an extreme which incite violence

I think the difficulty with fighting racism or whatever bigotry a country has ingrained in its history is in trying to appease everyone instead of those oppressed by the bigotry,, because to appease that group specifically would , in itself , be seen by the others as bigotry against them

its almost a given that the groups in the historically oppressed just have to be TWICE AS good to even get on even ground, let alone to surpass

IF there is a 50 mile race, for instance, and you only let someone else join it after you have ran the first 40 with them tending to and caring after your needs along the way,, they cant possibly ever Break even with you just because you suddenly decide they can join, and they cant break even if every forty miles they receive you must also receive,,,,it would only work if they could be given that 40 miles along the same exclusive lines that they were omitted,,,

which will never happen in most modern societies let alone the complications of 'proving' who has suffered in those groups because not EVERYONE does,,,,

its just a battle worth continued efforts without the expectation to ever fully resolve it

the best we can hope for is that the longer the race gets, the more skilled those oppressed runners become to at least close the gaps,,,,

the bully would love to just say they quit and walk away, and make the other person feel guilty for feeling a need to fight back,, or blame the continuation of the fight on the others will to fight back. or laugh later that the other person cant beat them in a race due to the LIMP the beating caused,,, or that they cant throw the ball as far due to the BROKEN ARM That beating left,,,

that is incorrect, affirmative action is one of the few policies that deal directly with discrimination, ,it is not a set aside for any group specifically,, if someone of ANY Race shows that their race or gender or sexual preference is causing them to be EXCLUDED from something, Affirmative action applies to them

Obamacare is for all americans, so Im not sure what that has to do with race

bussing is likewise offered to all children, we live in a gated and mostly white community and it is offered here

supporting that people or civilizations are equally HUMAN is not racist

supporting that all people and civilizations are the SAME(identical) is ignorant

people can support whatever cause they wish, and some causes are based in geography, gender, and even race, that's a preference,, if its race based its 'racist',, but then again, Im not one who buys into all racism being the SAME or all racism being 'bad'

weed is not a GOOD Thing, but for some people it is a GOOD thing,,
for some, pets can cause terrible reactions, for others it actually can help their condition

there are situations where race, gender, sexual identity are relevant to the situation, and therefore approaching those attributes is necessary and logical , even if seen as 'racst'

this leaves me at the same place as always,,,,lol

IM not an absolutist, I don't label everything that is 'racist' bad, therefoe I can talk about racism without it being a character attack of anyone specifically but instead being about general demographic gaps and their historical preconditions,,,

knowing that racism is not something that will ever be discussed here between myself and the others on the site,,,without it being taken as an ABSOLUTE Affront to someone posting,,,

lets just ignore it from now on, I can discuss it in other more open forums,, this forum obviously has a very sore and sensitive spot about the subject,,,

What I find annoying is the custom of some people to want racism to be as it was 40 years ago so that those people will have an enemy that they can fight.

A problem can have nothing to do with racism, but if racism is the only thing that people know how to fight, then they might make the false cry "Racism" anyway. Of course, when the alleged racism can't be proven, then the people claim that the racism is invisible.

People who misbehave, who makes poor decisions or who are of poor character may find themselves in trouble or lacking what they desire because they misbehave, make poor decisions or of poor character. Instead of confessing to their shortcomings, they will claim that racism is the reason why they find themselves in trouble or lacking what they desire. Of course, when the alleged racism can't be proven, then the people claim that the racism is invisible.

As racists discover that their racism is not socially acceptable, they might try to sooth their racist feelings by projecting their racism onto non-racists. Instead of saying, "I'm a racist; thus, I have a flaw", they say, "Everyone is a racist; thus, I am just like everyone else."

I don't know which is worse, crying "Racism" when there isn't any, or claiming "Most people are racists" when most aren't.

or being enslaved for your skin color for hundreds of years, or denied 'equal rights' for decades, causing disenfranchisement

and then having acknowledgement of the results of disenfranchisement be 'poo pooed' whenever it is explored,, by pointing out that at some time and in some place somewhere in world history others have also went through,, abc,,or felt abc,,,,

yes, we know, everyone and anyone CAN Be racist or sexist or liberal or conservative at different moments and times in their lives,, none of these things by themselves are EXCLUSIVE to any group

but in context of looking at more SPECIFIC regional and geographical history, these things will still be topics of discussion,, and valid discussion at that,,,
