Fox News host Mike Huckabee warned last week that abortion rights could lead to a Nazi-style extermination of elderly people in the United States.

"The fact is we live in a country that has always valued the notion that every person has worth and value," the former Arkansas governor said at Susan B. Anthony List's 7th Annual Campaign for Life Gala. "And I want us to be reminded of what takes place when a country begins to devalue any group of its citizens for any cause whatsoever. Once the devaluation of a certain segment of the population occurs, whether it is because of gender, religion, race, creed, color - or the age of gestation - then anything is possible."

Huckabee said he visited the notorious Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz earlier this year.

"We look at the horrors of the Holocaust and people say, 'How could that happen? How could one of the most sophisticated, well educated and scientifically advanced countries in the entire planet do something of such magnitude?' And I tell you, it didn't happen over night. It happened slowly but methodically, human beings were devalued."

Huckabee said women only terminated their pregnancies because "some lives are a financial hardship" or because being pregnant is "a social disruption." He warned that abortion rights could lead to the killing of elderly citizens in the name of convenience.

Huckabee has a long history of comparing abortion to the Holocaust. The Anti-Defamation League called on Huckabee to stop making the comparison in 2007.

"We find the use of analogies to the Holocaust in other contexts deeply painful, disturbing and offensive. Such analogies can only trivialize and diminish the horror, and cause further pain to Holocaust survivors and to those alive today who lost friends and loved ones," ADL National Director Abraham H. Foxman said.

But what you must ask is to what purpose does this serve? By the very topic of the discussion serving little purpose but to cause controversy, then it is a means of division.

With 2016 now but around the corner and Huckabee being a has been in the political world, what is the purpose of the division?

Nothing is done in the two parties without some purpose in mind, the big question is to whom will this controversy benefit?

Granted, if a politician is involved the "idiot" part should be assumed up to a point.

But when it involves the political parties, there is no "idiot" point that does not serve some purpose.

This two party system always gives the illusion that there is some separation, but it is just that, an illusion. The spoils are divided and divided equally.

It will always remain so until these gangs are driven from the government.

i don't think it's a political thing, more of a ratings getter... he whines and says something really stupid, and people watch to see how stupid he really is...

the religious folk will eat this up...

Can't quite go there. In the past Huckabee has been a contender or at least fills out the front of the race for one of he gangs. But this time around, he is not even worth mentioning much less being a runner. So when he starts causing controversy this early in the game, something is up. Too early yet to tell what, need to see where the money will flow.

But king barry was supposed to be the king. It was all part of the grand scheme of things. Let's start with the physco, McCain and then choosing Palin, can we get serious, a real choice? Yeah for whom?

And then all the little subtle hint about mormans and bingo, bango we have a Romney, a rich guy when all the entitlement people were taught to hate the rich and morman to boot. And then here is the liar in shining armor giving things to the entitlement people, just where was there a race.

So now what is in store for the future?
