I work at a fast food place and it gets irritating sometimes because I have to work with 16 year old girls. And they're trying to tell me what to do and I'm just thinking "uhh I'm about nine years older than you. I know exactly what I'm doing. It's not that difficult. And then some of them are so slow and lazy and do nothing but talk! Ugh, they should be glad I'm not the manager because there would be a couple less employees. Thank god though that I only have to deal with them on the weekends. I work morning shift which means they're normally still in school and out of my hair. And I'm not just picking on the girls. There's one high school boy that's pretty annoying too. But at least he has some work ethic and he doesn't just stand around.

Sorry I had to vent as I have nobody really to talk to.biggrin

It doesn't get better, no matter the job

Ha yeah, well I think some jobs would be better but with my lack of experience and my lack of a degree my options are pretty limited.

Thinking that you are limited is what is limiting you

I can understand. We don't get as much choice, nowadays. We can't win. The Jobcentres just want to see us as slaves. It's a joke.

Pretty much. When I lived in Tucson, Arizona this restaurant was hiring a dishwasher and so they were having a sort of open interview process where you just showed up at a set time and got in line to get interviewed. When I arrived there was like 10 people in line. It was ridiculous. And then when I finally got interviewed he basically told me there were several others that were interviewed that already had experience. What a waste of time!

True but it is hard to get work when you have little work experience to begin with. I'm a college student so in the past I just took classes instead of working.

But the good thing about where I'm from in Arkansas is that there's more work and people hiring. So I have more opportunities here. I used to live in Michigan where the economy sucks. So glad I don't live there anymore.

I also am from Michigan ( Detroit) and you are on the right path. All jobs have people like those you mentioned. Show up on time, make sure your uniform is clean, put in extra effort and soon your supervisor will see how good your doing and promote you. Remember in the land of the blind the one eyed man is king. Work hard and always remember when you apply for a better job they will check your old job to see how good a worker you are.Best wishes to you!
